If it's one of two sources, it could be nothing.
But when there is this much noise about it, and neither, or the player denying it, there is probably something in it. Still might not get him of course.

This is the salient point here. When one or two outlets are reporting it you take it with a punch if salt. When you've got several of the more reputable outlets reporting it, and not just quoting other outlets, it has more substance. When you've got the BBC reporting that Dortmund have placed a deadline of 10th August for any deal to be agreed, that gives it further credance.

I don't think that there is any doubt we are in for the lad. Hopefully we can get it over the line. I reckon at this stage there is a 90% we get him.

This story has followed the same pattern of nearly all our major signings in recent years, where weve been linked with a player and it gathers pace over a period of time. There are obviously some reporters that are more ITK and get news that bit earlier.

It's been pretty obvious in these last few weeks that theres been genuine interest from utd in this player only a moron would refuse to acknowledge it.
