I won't waste my time on any list without Saka.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I had to Google him to see who he was. I didn’t have to do that with any of the others.

Saying that I don’t watch Arsenal that much unless I am in need of some comedy.

TAA or Pulisic.

It has got to be Trent, but there is some seriously good young talent in the league at the moment.

I think I will have £20 on Greenwood for next season.

Greenwood’s impact has been phenomenal. To share a record with Wazza and George is nothing to be scoffed at.

I agree that TAA deserves to win it but I don’t see at as being by a country mile.

The problem for Greenwood is that TAA will still be eligible.

Although I do agree with others that it's a bit strange when players who have been a mainstay of the first team for two or three seasons are in.

Perhaps they should rename it to best breakthrough player, or even add another award.

I'd have others ahead of Greenwood for young player as it stands but certainly if it was best breakthrough player I'd have him in with a shout with Mount, Saka and Grealish with a major chance of winning it.

Who do you think has been close to TAA?

TAA should win and based on the current rules would be a worthy winner.

However, I agree with others that he shouldn't really be eligible given the number of top flight games he's played.

Personally I'd say a player is eligible if they're (a) under 23 and (b) have played in less than 50 senior EPL games.

......

No one. But I don’t think Greenwood has been a country mile away either.

Come on, he started 12 games. TAA was miles away from him.

Greenwood is 7th or 8th out of that lot.

Greenwood has had a good season but only because of the context i.e. he's a new first team player breaking through.

I think he'd be bottom of my list from the players mentioned, based on their season's performance.

TAA clearly the winner, think I'd have Henderson in second.

TAA will win it. He’s been the stand out player in the list.

They should change the criteria, though. It should be u21 players.

Yes, but I think I will get a run for my money. Trent has already had a full season last year to settle into the PL. Greenwood hasn't played as much football as Trent this season, so it was always going to be hard for him to win the trophy. Next season he will be more established and will get more starts in the PL, so will be in with a shout if he can keep his current form up.

Two fantastic prospects for England. We really have a decent crop of youngsters coming through at the moment.

Yeh, I don't think that Greenwood has played enough PL football to be really considered to be fair. His total match time in the league comes to about 14 games.

Will be interesting to see how he gets on next season when he is more established.

If you're buying Sancho you'd think he wouldn't get as many PL games as he got last season.

Don't agree with that as I think you'll see Greenwood employed more across the front three rather than predominantly on the right.

Sacnho and Rashford are the United players that will give TAA a run for his money next season. You’ll essentially need to play at a pfa player of the year level to win the young player of the year given the level TAA is at.

So it you’re looking at United players it has to be Rashford or Sancho next season. As good as Greenwood is, he’s not quite capable of that yet.

Greenwood is much better than Rashford at finishing. This award should be between Martial and Greenwood. Both have been insanely good this season.

posted on 7/8/20

I don't get how you work that out Imran? Greenwood is better than both. Never seen a striker as good as him doing it consistently for us since RVP 2012/13. Lethal.

Yeh, with Winston on this. I think that it will give us opportunity to rest the players a bit more and I reckon Mason will start maybe 22-24 PL games next season.

I don't think Jesse will be around and he has started 9 games this season. Pereira also started a few games in the attacking positions early in the season. So I think there is an opportunity for him to get more game time next season.

So you'll have Rashford on the left, Martial in the middle and Sancho on the right. Greenwood was basically a starter towards the end of the season which is where most of his starts came from. I can't see him starting 12 games, unless there's a long injury or something.

posted on 7/8/20

Rashford scored 2.50 goals less than expected last season in the PL. Martial scored 3.76 goals more than expected and Greenwood scored 6.61 goals more than expected. Considering Greenwood had very few chances, if he had as many chances as Rashford and Rashford had as many chances as Greenwood, then Greenwood would have most likely scored many times more than Rashford last season.

posted on 7/8/20

Rashford would have scored like 2 league goals last season from the chances Greenwood had and Greenwood would have scored over 40 league goals from the chances Rashford had.

Greenwood in this market for players even with pandemic would be worth around £200m now if you go by value to performance levels.

From what I've seen I think there's every chance Greenwood takes Martial's place (assuming he can play more centrally) by the end of next season. If Sancho comes that is. He has been very impressive.

Watching him break through this season reminded me a little of Fowler's debut season, tremendous accuracy of shot, great power and shoots early.
