Pochettino had Llorente.

I don't care what you call him, we need a second striker because Kane will get injured.

Our second striker should play every Europa league game for us until like the QFs of even SFs

Kane on Thursday-Sundays does not sound good

the guy we bring in should be able to play uptop on his own and with Kane. should be used off the bench when searching for goals and will get plenty of minutes in the EL and when Kane needs to be managed properly to avoid his customary February injury

Yet we’ve had two agents just this summer say their clients would only come if Kane wasn’t here.

Morata a few years back said the same too so it does seem like their is a problem.

I guess the financial package to get a decent striker we offer isn’t enough for them to hang around playing second fiddle

Depay is so good, probably better than Son

Definitely need another out and out striker. Ridiculous that when Kane gets injured, no real striker to step into his shoes. Son does an OK job, but he is not the answer.

I wish people would stop saying “ but Son can play there”. I love Son and think he’s a fantastic player, but he’s not a natural striker. You play him there if you have no options as he can score goals, but his strength is playing as a wing forward. He’s not a striker!!!! Our problem is we have ran Harry Kane into the ground far too much, hence why he’s picked up so many injuries. Getting in a striker is as much a priority as any in my opinion. I mean a proper striker, not a winger pretending to be a striker. Bergwijn isn’t a striker. Lucas isn’t a strike. Son isn’t a striker.

He may not be a tradional striker but he has always performed better when Kane has been injured and seems to relish playing there. Always bags important goals and adds more pace than Kane.

I actually dislike the whole ‘winger who can play striker’ argument as backup as I think Son/Moura/Dele have proven while they are quite good at it - it doesn’t work and just causes gaps elsewhere in the squad.

Despite all that though, Ollie Watkins would be ideal - he is a player who can genuinely play both on the wing and up top

i'd say more a striker who could play along side another striker or on his own, as well as out wide.

Agree with the OP, good article.

I’d bite your hand off for Danny Ings

Jiminez and we’d be in dreamland, although we’d be fighting off half the clubs in Europe so no chance.

I reckon Callum Wilson is most likely to be happen. Wouldn’t be against it, but he wasn’t actually very good last season so he’d need to up his game big time.

Ideally we need two extra strikers, one to add competition and to take some workload off Kane, and another Plan B type striker who is good in the air and physical, who allows a change of tactics when we are struggling to create.

A club like Spurs should have 3 centre forwards in its squad, and one of them with alternative attributes.

I’ve never got this with Spurs and people saying no one wants to be Kanes back up.

Kane wouldn’t get injured so much of he had a decent striker to play with him or rotate with him. They could both play as much as the other.

I sometimes wonder if Kane has it in his contract that he has to play a certain amount of times and must be the clubs only striker.

I remember him coming in as a sub when we were 6-0 up in a cup game.

That and the fact we haven’t signed a striker for years.
