this is happening, if its a loan.
say your shane duffy, you are mad timmish, and u get the chance to be part of ten in a row while keeping the same wage you are on in the premiership.
or sign for west brom.
if its a loan he's coming.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But why would Brighton want a loan?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Get a loan fee in without losing an asset

If they were going to let him go they would want to sell, especially post Covid.

And a whack of his wages paid. Then he’s likely to do well with us which in turn would create more interest particularly if we get the 10 and a CL group placing. All adds to his value and attraction as a purchase.
I’d have thought that was reasonable obvious tbh.

Post Covid, with as you say clubs like west ham interested who are well known to spunk money up the wall.
Take the money and reinvest it in the squad rather than get a small loan fee.
Reasonably obvious tbh

Generally happens with players on mega wages though, like Coutinho.
I don’t think Brighton will struggle to find a suitor to buy him outright
Ultimately loan deals sometimes suit clubs if they don't want to completely write off the player but feel like it'd be beneficial to get some wages off the bill for 1 season and a loan fee, likely around £1 million.
From a Brighton perspective it doesn't make sense to get a loan fee if they don't want him.
The could sell him now for decent money while his stock his high and re-invest in their squad. If there was no interest in outright buying him it could happen but there seems to be a few PL teams that want to buy him.

It could be a number of things. They may want to invest in a ridiculously expensive defender thinking that will stop them getting dragged into another relegation battle.
It could be they don't want to sell to a potential relegation rival.
It could be that he is pyoor Timmy and has got Brighton telt that he doesn't want to become the next Ian Harte

I don't really get why you are so interested in pursuing this point.
He might get transferred, he might go on loan, he might stay where he is.
It depends on what suits the clubs and the player.
No biggie either way.
If it's a permanent deal then he'll go for anything between £5-£10 million which rules us out as we've spent over £10 million already.
Either Lawwell has lost the plot or we're about to get £35 million for Edouard.

Shane Duffy would absolutely improve us defensively. You need at least one of your CBs to be a no nonsense type defender. Whilst on balance I think Jullien and Ajer are very decent (at the level we can attract), they can also play like a pair of wummin at times ... whilst knowing they’re automatic picks regardless.
