I dont think he'd come much cheaper than Sancho anyway to be honest

Nay but not a huge objection. Just think we need better

Not good enough

No

Not for me, no.

Decent enough but don't see him kicking on further than the level he is at.

Would need to see him playing in a side that aren’t so deep in their starting positions and focusing on counters. What’s he like when you’re high up the pitch against packed defences? Not really watched Wolves that much but it’s a contrast to how most of our games play out.

posted on 13/8/20

No. He's played 37 times for Wolves, but in over half of those games he has been subbed on or subbed off, which given that he's supposed to be their main attacking threat from wide suggests that he isn't fit enough to play the full 90 minutes (he's not being taken off with wolves 5-0 up).

4 goals and 9 assists this season; by contrast dan james has 3 and 6.

And people still talk about PL proven as a big advantage, but has no one noticed that the PL is awash with cash, so we get constantly ripped off when looking at PL players? Maguire at 80m, awb at 50m, ake at 40m, grealish and chilwell valued at 80m, what value do you think wolves' multi-billionaire owners will place on traore? It would be almost as lofty, and almost as protracted a negotiation, as going for sancho.

No thanks. All pace and little end product

A lot of stat talk here.

He puts in plenty of good crossed, not his fault if no one gets on the end of it.

Mike raises a good point though, how would he play against bus parkers?

Greenwood is better.

Traore is an upgrade on Dan James, but that's about it.

Total neutral, but he’s a hard player to judge IMO. First impressions are he’s in the wrong sport! As has been said, he can be seriously unplayable. Just wouldn’t be sure what length of career he can have injury-wise, with a game based on explosive pace and power, but carrying THAT much bulk? Tough one.

Who doesn't love a good stat?

I'll give you another one - at the age of 24 he has 5 top flight goals to his name, with 4 of those having come this season. This is the same as Lingard at the same age, and half of Mason's total in his debut season.

And as for no one getting on the end of crosses, Jimenez scored 5 goals this season from headers, the most in the PL, and scored as many goals as both martial and rashford, so wolves certainly do have someone to get on the end of his crosses.

I'm not sure the guy would join us as a definite starter - whereas sancho would - yet we'd be bent over yet another barrel on his fee, and would have to commit £80m + to a squad player.

They have Jimenez, we don't have anyone like this unless Ole plan to play Ighalo instead of Martial.
I like the look of this one

I don't see how this makes a shred of difference... The dozen or so times i've seen Wolves, this season... Traore has put in good crosses, sometimes Jiminez is there, sometimes not... No one striker can get on the end of every ball.

I wouldn't mind him.

Likes to try and beat a man.
Absolutely rapid
Absolutely solid super strength
Rocket shot
Decent crossing

The way we play he won't be running up and down the pitch for 90 mins counter attacking as we quite often play against park the bus teams so he shouldn't get too knackered on our wing.

Wouldn't pay more than 50 million for him though.

yep, but i've seen james put in good crosses too which no one has got on the end of...no winger sees every good cross converted into a goal, same way no striker scores from 100% of their chances (unless you're hafi i guess)

do you think martial is more likely to get on the end of a good cross than jimenez? do we want a wide player pinging in crosses for a penalty box poacher, or do we want a wide player who can get involved in more intricate build up play?

i'm with lambeau on this, he's a clear upgrade on james/lingard/pereira, but i'm not sure if he makes our current first xi, so he'd be a good punt at £40m, but an unwise investment at £80m.

I'm not sure he is clearly an upgrade on James.

About equal in terms of pace and crossing.

James is younger and doesnt have the dislocating shoulder to worry about.

I may well be wrong but despite the strides he has made this year I don't really covet him, maybe for the same reason I never particularly coveted Bale even during the beast mode phase of his career. I prefer an attacker with a bit more subtlety to his game, who can think up different solutions if his main weapons are neutralised by the other team.

Well I cannot form an opinion on his ability if I don't know if we are linked with him or not!

All our attackers are this type though, having a brute force option might not be a bad thing.

So funny seeing one of the most negative fans on all of ja606 suddenly backing James, just to fit his striker agenda

We all hope James comes good, but the signs have been poor since the restart (and I mean actual poor, not the "poor" that you think Rashy has been).

I get what you are saying but what happens when Martial gets a long term injury next season?
