I have no doubts whatsoever the club are chasing multiple targets for multiple positions. I have noticed in the Premiership from afar in the past that deals tend to get done close to the new season or in the new season towards deadline day.
For whatever reason think this still applies. unless you have money to burn at this level deals are more complex with several moving parts and rival clubs throwing their hat into the ring when they sniff out a player you are interested in from their contacts.
Add in the unprecedented situation and uncertainty created from covid-19 and it makes getting deals over the line exceptionally challenging.
Now for most premiership clubs doing the deals so late is not necessarily a problem. They have good squads and are adding quality or replacements and won't be short even if they go into the season.
For us the urgency is twofold. We don't have the luxury of that bigger squad to run with until the additions come in. We also have 2 key positions where we have one fit senior player who naturally plays that position. Therefore the longer it takes to get the additions in the greater the period of playing people out of position against world class opposition and the less time we have to get these additions into the Bielsa way of playing.
I feel we will get deals done but they will go into the season and we'll see us coping with what we have until maybe 6-8 games in. Players like Struijk are going to be key to how we handle that.
The only thing worrying me right now is centreback.
I'm fine with the other deals taking longer - they are going to in this transfer window for reasons already said. We need reinforcements in other areas but have enough to cover for first few games and any new signing wouldn't start over Bamford/Harrison/Costa at least initially.
But we can't start the season with just Liam Cooper. I don't want to see Ayling moved across, Strujik is unproven and he was impressive at defensive midfield rather than centreback. We can usually expect Cooper to miss a few weeks with injury anyway, although maybe with fewer games he might not this season.
If we bring this German defender in next week, I'll be feeling a lot more comfortable. Ideally we would get 2 centrebacks but maybe club see Casey or Strujik as good enough, but we definitely need a new starting defender.

Typical Leeds, promise much and deliver little
Holding been transfer listed. Should be signing Koch and Holding ideally
Personally the lack of centrebacks worries me.
There is a massive difference between the squad not being there and improving the squad.
We don't have enough centrebacks we need to sort that out before anything else.
Then we can work towards improving the squad until october

Agree there Shaun. Everything I'm reading suggests
those two names are the ones (the back ups) we're
after if the Ben attempts fail. Would be happy with these
two. Watched the Frieburg game yesterday thanks to Sol's link. Koch looks a player.
