Full 90 and a clean sheet, well done to him.

Was only 2 weeks ago he was having an unofficial kickabout with a couple of people I work with. Told them I'm going next time.

He didn't really put a foot wrong. Sadly the 3 at the back didn't work for England (no fault of his) which might mean that Southgate abandons it for now, which will probably curtail Coady's opportunities.

Southgate has just said that he was impressed defensively. Maybe he will pursue the system.

I don't see why Coady couldn't adapt to a back 4, I know he's never played in one as cb before but he's a smart lad and has plenty of experience, I don't think it would be beyond him. That said I think the players southgate has available lend themselves to a back three with wing backs, when they're all fit and available at least. I hope he sticks with it despite the inevitable press reaction condemning it as a failure.

Pleased for him. Watched him come through in midfield when he was a kid, always been a leader.

Had a very good debut and England can play with a back 3 with wingback. Problem is, the other two midfield players. Phillips and Rice had poor games, so Grealish and Mount deserve a chance and I'm sure will be more creative. England never looked likely to score and that's two games in a row where Kane was dreadful.

Don’t see Coady getting games if Southgate goes back to 4 at the back but he showed today he’s the man for the job if he plays 3

Who is Phillips anyway?

Pleased for Coady, a childhood dream realized and now from a selfish perspective hope Southgate overlooks him though I wonder if he may I course him in squads for if and when he wants to switch the system. Next summer in particular.

Connor will only ever work in a back three. He is far too slow for a back four, and to be honest not that great a defender.

What he brings to the table organisation, and an ability to spring attacks through accurate long balls, also very composed and comfortable on the ball.

He is by no means a great defender.

but he is great as a leader of a defence

He's not a "great" defender no, but he's a much better one than people give him credit for.

He really isn't a defender, He plays a sweeper role, which is perfect for his attributes.

But there is no way I would put him on front line defensive duties, Like Boly and Saiss. He is there to tidy up the things they miss. A sweeper.

Agree with your general point amiga but I must say I do think his defensive play has improved a lot over the last two seasons

He was always a midfielder coming through our ranks. I was quite surprised when he was moved to defence.

He was average in midfield for Wolves, then tried at right back where he was useless, then Nuno surprised everyone by putting him at the centre of defence where he has been a revelation
