A loan on at most half his wages would be OK. I wouldn't want to buy him.
200k a week, a 2 year loan to take him to the end of his contract, and the most thorough medicals of medicals, and absolutely.
If he gets his head right, he still has massive talent.
Good experienced back up to rotate with Greenwood and chip in with goals and assists while probably understanding he won’t play 90 minutes every week due to his injury record.

Wouldn’t be the end of the world...
When was the last summer transfer window we weren’t linked with Gareth Bale?
And he doesn’t seem to have a questionable attitude
All’s good
Nope; not for me.
Even at £330k per week, this has expensive mistake written all over it.
He isn’t the kind of personality I think Ole wants to see at the club. I don’t think he’s remotely interested in demonstrating his footballing abilities to the world; he’s interested in earning money and playing golf. Otherwise, he’d have left Real long back. I’m not sure that’s the kind of role model we want for the likes of Greenwood and James.
Then there’s his age to consider, as well as his injury issues.
Two or three years ago, I’d have said he’d be worth (even an expensive) punt. Now I think that ship has sailed.
And I disagree that DDG is “on the decline”, btw. He’s far too young to be losing any of his physical abilities. Maybe he needs to sort his training, concentration and/or confidence out, but those are a matter of form, not ceiling.
Would be a massive step backwards. IMO. Yet another Sanchez in the making. If Sancho is deemed a cost too far by United, WTF would this be?
Thought these hire and spend days were over apparently, according to Ed and Ole.
A short term contract with half his wages paid would be worth a gamble imo.
Yeah feels like another Sanchez/Di Maria/Falcao situation. I would question the mentality of a player who's happy just to sit on the bench a count his money (which he is perfectly entitled to do btw), it doesn't scream elite mentality. When paying out those wages that's what you need.
Bale is just looking for another payday and will then get back to concentrating on his golf career.
At any club who can/will.
United will do.

What choice did he have? Cant pick himself.
he’s interested in earning money and playing golf. Otherwise, he’d have left Real long back.

Didn't he try to leave in the first window that came after ZZ said he was no longer needed. Some Chinese club? Madrid stopped it.
I'll leave it to Ole to gauge where his head is at, but i'd be lying if I said I wouldn't be a bit excited to see it happen, if the price/wages were ok.
The reason I'd take the punt is because Bale was on another level to those others mentioned.
He has the potential to light up the league.
But we musn't get stuck in a long term, expensive agreement - it should be a year to see how it goes imo.
Bale would be the best player at United if you signed him.

Pushing for a move to China at age 30 doesn’t necessarily negate the argument that he seems interested in earning money and playing golf 😅
its interesting how Sancho has looked average at best when pulling on an england shirt (questionable tactics or not from the manager), plays in decent but not amazing league, yet people are still wanting us to pay 100 million for him.
Bale on the other hand has won the lot, played for one of the best teams in the world, fallen out with the manager, not been allowed to leave, and people have no interest whatsoever because they deem 20 million and 300k a week a gamble.
i know which is the biggest gamble for me.. and it aint bale
The fact he wanted to leave Real to move to China makes me have huge concerns over his motivation these days. No doubt he’s a talent but his injury record plus his astronomical wage which will cause a big issue with our current wage structure means it isn’t really a sensible signing or one worth taking a risk with.
We need players who are hungry for success and willing to give 100%, I just don’t see Bale being that player anymore either.
Imagine if it was Pogba at United just sitting on the bench just to take a massive wage and saying basketball comes before United. Would you be praising Pogba for just doing what anyone else would do or would you want him to fack off? Then may other teams be a bit wary of signing him?
This would be absolutely mental. Fairly sure Ole wouldn't go for it.

what does the china thing have to do with it?
could it not be he was happy to go there just so he could actually play rather than be frozen out at Madrid?
Obviously none of us can definitively know where his head would be at if he came to United but there are very strong reasons to fear he would be an abysmal cultural fit. We're building a squad of hungry, determined, humble players with their best years ahead of them. Bale has won everything and spent the last couple of years very publicly demonstrating he's happy to pick up superstar wages and focus on improving his golf swing. You'd need to be very very sure that he wouldn't be bringing his Real Madrid attitude with him - but how could you know that for sure?
That's before you factor in the risks involved in his injury record, and the fact that physicality has been a big part of his game.
You wouldn't pay 10m for Sancho if you were basing it solely on his England performances.
