Always felt Aouar was out of our reach anyway.
Honestly doubting we will be getting Partey either, tbh. Reckon Guendouzi will end up being reintegrated into the squad or we will buy a young midfielder to replace him, and we will remain as 3-4-3 with Ceba and Xhaka first choice.
Feels like we don't have enough money to get both of them. Auouar's price is £55.5m and Partey's release clause is £45m. We simply don't have that much cash, even if we sell Emi for £16m plus £4m add ons and Torreira for £22m in a year's time. I'd be happy with signing Partey now, playing Ozil as Auouar's stop gap this season and buying Auouar at the end of the season.
The club wouldn't have activated his extension clause if they were going to sell him or send him on loan. And I expect he is going to get his opportunity now.
Think both Partey and Aouar are still a possibility.

Ozil needs to be kept away from the squad. Would rather give ESR a go as number 10 than waste more time on Ozil

Making no midfield signings would be a disaster. Partey or someone of equal ability should be bare minimum. Selling Torreira and keeping Elneny doesn’t really scream improvement. I don’t mind if we keep Gwen but our midfield was still shiiiit when he was playing regularly so he’s not really going to be the answer either.
I reckon Aouar will come. Arteta appears to really fancy him; who wouldn’t, technically assured on the ball.
I suspect Arsenal are going saving up for Aouar. Atletico are in big trouble financially. Liga stopped their deal for Marc Roca until they could prove they could pay his fee. With Marc Roca deal in the balance they might try for Gouendozi again. And thats how we can still get Partey as well.
With a name like that I have a feeling he'll end up playing for Ipswich
Think we’ll get at least on midfielder in, we have to sell some players first though so a lot will depend on that. Could be getting just over 40m from Torreira and Martinez soon, that coupled with hopefully couple of the fringe higher earners being moved on could get us close to enough funds for 1 at least

Dont think that is realistic.
My guess is that Arteta wants Auour more than Thomas. I agree with him.

Martinez is £15m, with performance based clauses to take it up to £23m.
Torreira is a loan deal with a fee of £11m, and a transfer fee of £11m next summer.

Nope. Its an obligation. Do you think we have paid Gabriel's fee up front. 🤔
It is an obligation for next summer - not soon
Partey has to be in full as we will have to activate his clause.
Because they changed FFP due to corona, a fee next year is as good as a fee this year. This is why we're seeing so many loans with obligations to buy.
I agree with Partey unless of course Atletico change their mind. Which is why I mentioned Goen and also Laca as possible swap candidates.
An obligation means Arsenal could borrow against it and still use it if they wish.
I also suspect its a lot of cry poverty by Arsenal. They will buy who they want by Oct.

No, loan to buys has long been popular in Italy and elsewhere. Just normal business for them.

Aouar and Partey would be so good that it's hard to imagine us actually signing them. Aouar could be the closest thing to Iniesta on the planet very soon.
