Hi there. You say that you don't want Reguilon and Bale cos we aren't getting them. But if we were getting them would you want them? I sure would if we were. Although I've not seen them play.

We’ve moved on to Mbappe now

The problem is if United sign Bale his wages gradually go up from £600k a week to £900k a week to eventually £1.2m a week. If Spurs sign Bale then his wages reduce from £600k a week to £300k a week to eventually £100k a week.

Its a deal which makes sense for Spurs.

Avoidable?

I think you lot are doing the right thing not bending over to Dortmund

Dortmund not moving from their 108m price is a consequence of bending over for doing a Harry last year. Stand your ground for a few windows and clubs will stop facking about with the prices

Sancho is not worth 100m plus. Spending that kind of money you want a 100% proven player he is not. He plays in the German league, Where 85% of the teams are Sh*te. He find it much tougher playing Leeds away then SC Freiburg

I think he's proven as much as he can tbf at his current age and the team/league he plays for. More than any other player his age in Europe possibly.

I don't think Bale is the way to go for us, we've moved on from that line of transfers.

As for Reguilon, I would have liked to have signed him, but if he does well Madrid will just buy him back even if it's to sell him on again.

What happened to the other left back we were linked to as well as Reguilon? The Porto one?

I think Spurs are also hijacking that one too.

You say that but i bet if Bale signs for Spurs he rips it up.

The Reguillon clause is a to match a future bid, not a minimum release clause for Madrid.

No there's two clauses, one like you say and the other is that they can buy him back for an agreed fee, rumoured to be 37m euros, within the next 2 years. That's the one we wanted no part of.

Bale may well rip it up for Spurs, he also may not. Those deals just don't seem to work for us at the moment and you could see another Sanchez situation with massive wages and a player not producing.

Defo think you have learned your lesson from Sanchez..... Bale is probably a good miss for United, Unlike Spurs, you don't need to take the risk

Problem with a lot of Man United fans is that they believe what they read in the papers and internet from journos and the tweets etc, from desperate agents. And they don't fully understand/accept what Ole is creating at United with the stated cooperation of the Club after many years of serving the egos of bad managers combined with sanctioning the overspending on under performing and over rated players, just because United can.

posted on 16/9/20

I think Bale will do well for Spurs. Don't think he'd do that at United. He had plenty of chances to come here but rejected it. It's too late now. We need players committed to the cause.

One concern of mine is that Bruno was going to be a summer signing, but was fast-tracked due to us being rubbish.

The board might be putting his £50m fee into this summer's spend bill, which would put us at nearly £100m already.

I think we will get another one player in, but maybe not a huge signing like Sancho.

yup, our net spend over the past 5-10 years has generally averaged £60-80m. last summer it was £65m; this summer it has been £35m + bruno?

it is certainly likely that at least some of the bruno fee came out of this year's budget, it could even be that the sanchez payoff did too.

of course you could then ask questions such as: if bruno was not intended for last summer, what was our plan for the no.10 position? eriksen, dybala, and bruno were all linked, but if we had £150m to spend gross, did we really think that overpaying for maguire, whilst leaving jesse and andreas to battle it out for the no.10 spot, was a good idea?

certainly possible that we have already blown 3/4 of this year's budget, and have failed to add to it through a single player sale.

Exactly. Ironically I hear the same people who said we should pay whatever to get maguire now saying the same about sancho. There is consequences to always paying whatever the selling club demands as you've highlighted. It will take a few windows to reverse what woodward started by saying money is no object and we can pay whatever back afer SAF left.

This isn't ironic, it's perfectly logical.

Of course there is another group of fans - a quite large group perhaps - that thinks that maguire never was and never will be an £80m player, but that sancho could very easily be a £100m player (if not now, in the future).

What I don’t understand is why, at least from the outside looking, does Woodward not have a back up plan and always just pays the asking price

Woodward needs to shoulder some responsibility for the insanely inflated market kickstarted by the pogba deal

Why would Dortmund blink if they want to keep the player at the club?

There’s no blinking to be done on their part.
