One of the downsides here is that this now leaves us with no games to give the fringe players a run out.

I doubt we will see much of Silva this side of Xmas now

Probably best to let him play with the U23s for a while

Probably the biggest positive from tonight was that Silva showed he will be good enough to take the weight off Jimenez and I expect we will see him get plenty of chances from the bench.

And Vitinha looked a more attacking midfielder than our other midfield players and that gives us the chance to change things around. Looked a real live wire always on the move.

Certainly good additions to the squad and great prospects

Always rely on DJ to go the opposite way

Silva will get minutes here and there, that is obvious, but we need him starting games here or there not just getting minutes.

Don't think we have enough players to give Silva games with the u23s Gem, he will have to get over tonight quick and get stuck in. Hopefully he gets a chance quickly to put his miss behind him.

Still three weeks of the window to go so plenty of time, lets just hope we make the additions we desperately need if we want to improve on last season.

Jota allegedly off in a strop, another cup gone, arguing amongst the fans, Ruddy living up to his one big clanger a game tag, Silva looking like the move was just too big for him, Traore back into rooster mode.

Wolf head cloud

I don't think there were any positives, Stoke sat back, while Wolves passed the ball around at the back before launching a long ball into a crowded Stoke half.

There was no urgency, no commitment (Traore did his best) it was a passive lethargic display from Wolves, and we got what we deserved.

We needed to take the game to them, run with the ball, pull them around the pitch, all we did was slowly pass the ball around.

I can't even say the new players did anything to get excited about. But not blaming them, the whole team were asleep tonight.

Don’t think Buur or Vinagre did much to advertise their chances tonight and that’s our biggest shortcoming at the moment. We have plenty in midfield and attack now but our game is set up to demand a big input from the wide players and we don’t have that at the moment. Marcal will do a job but I would say he is more defender than wing back from what little we’ve seen. A new right wing back is essential

Anyone else think that we are missing Jonny and Doc?

Yup

Not gonna get to worked up over tonight, basically a pre season game. All it does is tells us what we already know, we are short of players to make this squad truly competitive.

At the current time our first eleven is now weaker than it was a month ago and we need to be active over the next three weeks.

Not sure what Ruddy is doing here

This wasn't about the squad Cinci. We had the players, we lacked the urgency. It was like we thought we could just stroll through the game, and the win would come.

Stoke were rubbish, but we barely asked any questions. The only one who did was Traore, but he was doing it on his own.

There was just no effort.

Agree with some of that Amiga, we played how we often do, especially in first halves of games, barely even trying to penetrate the opposition. As you said, we need players in games like this that can carry the ball, we basically have Traore and if he doesn't open a team up we are done.

posted on 17/9/20

We have players that can carry the ball, Vitnho however you spell it, his game is all about energy and taking people on. there was non of that from him tonight.

The whole team just strolled through the match, the running and movement was pathetic. I'm not blaming any individual, but the only player I saw trying to make anything happen was Traore, and he was basically doing it on his own.

posted on 17/9/20

I should clarify. Players that can carry the ball through midfield. we are so one dimensional. get it wide but now we don't have serviceable wing backs.

Think Vinagre may find his way out now as he surely won't get any games in the foreseeable.

posted on 17/9/20

Cinci we have the players, Stoke have nowhere near the quality. But if the players don't hussle, it doesnt matter how good you are.

We just lacked energy, and Stoke didn't even have to break sweat, sat back and soaked up what little pressure we put them under.

We were asleep, and barely got going.

posted on 17/9/20

We don't have the players now, we had Doc and Jonny, now we have Vinagre and Burr though it looks like Marcal will be prefered and he certainly isn't a wing back.

We were flat though, but we always are in these cup games, no idea why.

I'm really not surprised by tonights result, because when you make as many changes as we did tonight, although not as many as some predicted, these are the kind of results that will follow. I'm all for giving players match time, but 6 changes is too much against the kind of opposition we had tonight. It's ok in games like we had in the qualifying stages of the Europa League last season, but this was a cup we could have had a decent chance of winning.

No problem with the formation, in my view, but to start two players who hadn't donned a Wolves shirt, was a risk. Gradual introduction would have been the better option, but when you disrupt a starting eleven too much, these are the kind of upsets that will occur.

Anyway, we move on to City, where I believe we'll grab all 3 points. COYW

Saw this on Molmix and hard to disagree. A line up billed as this

Vitinha ------ Silva ------ Traore

........Neves - Dendocker

In reality, it was this:

..........Silva
--------------------------Traore

Vitinha - Dendoncker

Neves (in Coady's lap).

Just seen this and is probably the reason there are no live matches on NBC anymore:-

The Premier League has agreed a new broadcast deal in China to cover the rest of the 2020-21 season.

A contract has been signed with Tencent Sports after its previous £564m deal with PPTV was terminated with immediate effect earlier this month.

Viewers in China will have access to matches from this weekend.

The previous agreement with PPTV, signed in 2019 and due to run until 2022, ended after a £160m payment due in March was not received.

Does this affect you too cinci?

On Jota’s absence

“Him and Max were not available for selection. We have a short squad, all the options are good, but today they were not available. Decisions we have to make, we have to prepare the squad, we have to know the moment of the season.

“It was a quick turnaround, we have to take care of the players, so we can still build and improve our squad.”
