Anyone else think it's time to try out Knight in the centre?

Would like to see him alongside Rooney carrying the ball a bit. Don't think Bird is 100 fit. Marriott going off for me changed the game, we were looking good up til then. If we'd had 11 men on the pitch don't think they'd have scored their second.

Yes, play to his strength. He's not a wide man.

There is a degree of hard 'luckness' with Marriot, Joz and Shinnie all going off injured

Deffo missed Marriott after his injury. If it wasn't for bad luck we'd have none.

Since when was a nick to the ear an injury?

As a forgetful traditionalist I am trying to recall if we are better at:

(a) Starting hopelessly and then surging in November (before fading in the New Year) or.

(b) Starting strongly (before fading in the News Year) or

(c) A combination of both (before traditionally losing it in the play-offs)?

From what I've heard H-I held it up pretty well

No he do didn't Ang never got that many balls in to hold up sadly.

Think Knight is on form more than Sibley n Bird at the moment. Not sure if Cocu trusts his positioning defensively to play alongside Roo.

Byrne n Wooooz give us a huge amount of width now. Not sure if TL is lined up for the hole or out left.

Bird/Knight Roo
Waggy TL Woos
Lewandowski

Looks okay to me at this level.

Oh come on! This is the conversation of a year ago. Then we had all sorts of excuses but 12 months on and still not a settled side. Clueless frankly...

I posted free stream. He might have scored with his first touch too.

With Jozwiak (assuming his injury isn’t serious), a more powerful centre forward and either Ibe or Lawrence on the other flank we would look very different. I thought there were a few good signs today. Rooney, Bird, Shinnie, Sibley, Knight and Holmes are all central midfielders of different types. So is Bielik when he returns. It’s hard to pick the best three of those options if all are ever fit.

Te Wierek and Clarke will be the centre back pairing. Wisdom and Byrne compete for right back. Forsyth had a torrid time today but I thought Clarke was to blame for their winner. Forsyth got dragged into the centre which wasn’t really his fault. Clarke should have seen this and stayed where he was at the back post. This season Forsyth and Buchanan will compete for left back. Maybe that’s a weak area but I have high hopes for Buchanan and Forsyth is generally a steady enough player. If we were desperate Shinnie could also play there.

Not time for wrist-slashing. Plenty to be optimistic about.

Really? Your usual brilliant analysis of where to play everyone (genuinely) but have you told Cocu? No one can accuse me of pessimism but we seem to be foe ever tinkering and living off "what iffs'. Early days but am not encouraged......

posted on 19/9/20

Well we will see. I don’t see much tinkering except what has been forced through injury. I wish there was more intensity to the play with and without the ball though, we are very conservative. I don’t think Cocu can adapt his style to the players so he needs to change the players to suit, and that takes time.

Some decent individual performances and a better team effort today, so I am more encouraged than I was.
Unfortunately we go into next weeks game against a team off the back of a 5-0 victory, with the prospect of even more injuries including to our potentially most exciting and creative player.
More what ifs to deal with, I'm afraid. 🤔

Just seen the highlights and we certainly made more opportunities yesterday than previously, Byrne & Knight getting the ball into the box on several occasions. Just needed somone to finish them off.
Woeful defending at times from all of the back 4, but not just limited to them. Im not one to mention peoples weight, but Wisdom looks several pounds over his best.
Not sure I can face the full 90 mins yet 🤔

posted on 20/9/20

I watched the 90 live and I thought it was an OK performance , good at times, spoiled by soft goals. Conick played well as he did against us last year and most of their danger came from him. He had the beating of Forsyth.

Cocu seems a very patient and phlegmatic character. The drink-driving incident, EFL investigation, falling-through of the investment, transfer embargo and injuries don’t seem to have made much of a dent on him which is surprising and admirable. Maybe this also means he is happy to be very patient in building his team and is content to follow his plan even if there are hiccups on the way. Given the loyalty he has shown to Morris, despite the off the field stuff which surely he could not have expecting, he deserves the same in return.

On reflection, I have to agree with you. No need to panic. Yet

We are absolute garbage, we spend 90% of our possession in our own half We make 10 or more passes before we get in the opposition half, and wonder why, if we make a mistake, we concede,
Our keeper is the busiest man on the field with all the back passes.
Nobody makes a forward pass, or tries to beat an opposition player, its as if they are frightened to.
The worrying thing is the kids from the academy appear to have been coached into thinking that this is the way to play football.
It used to be a sin to pass across your own penalty area but now it happens all the time.

And we are also rubbish at cricket. Yorks Vikings winning by 6 wickets.
