I don’t see how you can defend 0 goals all season when he’s an attacker. If this was Gareth Bale, you’d be using this stat all the time. He played pretty much all of the 1st half of our season as 1st choice before Jose started to bench him, so nobody can sit there and tell me he hasn’t had opportunities. 0 goals is an extremely poor return. Lamela, who you absolutely hate has 4 more goals than him. Bergwijn come onto the pitch yesterday and was totally out of his depth as per usual.

I only mentioned Lamela because you harbour a lot of hate towards him, so I’m trying to do a comparison on who’s actually scored goals out of 2 players that don’t usually contribute much. Lamela is a squad player too where as Bergwijn was actually 1st choice at 1st half of our season. The tactics thing is an excuse. How comes those same tactics haven’t affected Gareth Bales or Lucas Moura’s goal scoring stats ? I think you just need to accept he’s been really poor this season. No excuses for it mate.

Lamela's output is pretty poor, sure, but there's a reason that both Mourhino and Poch have continually selected him when fit.
So stealing a living? Sounds like he's playing for a living, especially the majority of this season, which sort of renders your comment moot.

No it isn't good enough. The guy seems talented and does well outside of the box but you cannot be going a whole season without scoring. For someone to be part of 29 games and not get a goal must put him in a very small minority for attacking players in PL history who have not scored from a decent chunk of games.
Has to improve his end product next season.
As for the tactical bits Bale doesn’t do the defensive parts that’s been falling onto Son hence why his goal scoring stats took a huge hit.
Similarly like Lucas before he got moved into the 10 position recently.
Yes, basically one winger is a defensive winger so the other has the freedom to roam and continually attack.
Bergwijn should have scored more goals, but around 2-4 league goals would be an appropriate amount based on the job that is being asked of him. His role is to facilitate for Kane/Son and he’s a reason why our best form coincided with him being in the team. Similarly how when Bale came in Son stopped scoring as Son had to do the defensive work as Bale doesn’t defend.
I think those two big misses at Anfield knocked his confidence big time. His stats are poor though, however we try to dress it up.
Kane and Son really are incredible players.
On Bergwijn, you can see the quality there. Similar to how Ndombele was getting slagged off last year, it was obvious he would be a quality footballer for us, just the manager holding him back.
Bergwijn is not Ndombele level, but I expect under a progressive manager next season he will be a very useful squad player, similar to what Lucas currently is.

When coming in from an angle he is the master of neither crossing or shooting before running out of pitch and when he does actually try to do something positive its so telegraphed that the defender usually ensures that the last touch is off Berg so we don't even get a corner.

My biggest gripe about Bergwijn is that he often dribbles away from goal with the ball and makes a hell of a lot of passes backwards. I'd prefer him to turn and drive at defences.
