Remember Levy was after Bale last season too, but only Jose managed to convince him to stop golf for a bit and come home.
Jose then called Reguilon who was on his way to United, and convinced him to join us.
Good players do want to be with Jose, not with Ole at the wheel

Exactly mate. He is still respected by footballers all over the world. Just not accepted by mongy fans.
Jose is still one of the world`s best managers, despite what a lot of our fanbase say, he is still able to attract the best players, even though they could earn more by going elsewhere.
He is gradually starting to shape his own team, and another couple of windows, he will have rooted out the wasters and those that are past their sell by date. Far too many of our players have been on easy street for the last couple of seasons.
My only concern is that he continues to pick both Dier and Winks, who seriously are nowhere good enough for a team chasing trophies.

I agree that Jose had a big part to play in signing Bale. If we can get a CB and a back up striker we will have a squad capable of winning things.

OP, though Jose convinced the players, it is Daniel Levy who deserves the most credit.
The deal he's negotiated with RM, is amazing when you think Bale was on 600k a week before tax in Spain.
Levy negotiated a 40% pay of that 600k with RM, so around £240k a week, roughly the same as Kane!
Not breaking the Bank like trolls would have believe!
On top of this, not only RM are paying 60% of his wage, but Spurs have an option to take Bale for a second season on loan!
Amazing deal, take a bow bald
So we have operated under strict condition financially unlike what trolls make out.
