Expectations this season

VAR cost us both games against Palace at home. Funny how rugby fouls in box and doing last man fouls last season VAR didn't give us the correct decision but yesterday Atkinoncheater gave a penalty for nothing.

Atkinson yesterday proved he is a cheater.

Also I don't get how Rashford getting elbowed in the face after goalkeeper has left an open goal isn't a red card offence?

The squad is good enough to compete.

The problem is Ole. Got bailed out by Bruno last year (remember how hopeless the team was Pre-Jan?) and made to look decent. If he wasn’t part of club history he would’ve got tickets months ago.

Woodward is the next biggest problem. Throwing too little money too slowly at the wrong coach. Should’ve back Jose with the defenders he wanted after finishing 2nd (massive achievement considering the squad).

Jose’s attitude after not being backed was shocking and not professional. Clearly looking for the sack and payout but after winning 3 trophies, finishing 2nd, FÃ Cup final (should’ve won) and finishing second he deserved better support in the transfer market.

Well Mad Max , you mean, I suppose, that the team played much better when we signed the player Ole wanted at the beginning of the season.
Plus Pogba was out most of the season.
But it was the managers fault all along
I'll drop the Max part off your name if that's OK

Won't be long before the 'we are getting relegated' mob reappear.

Europa League
League Cup
Charity Shield
FA Cup Final
2nd in League

All in 2 seasons. He deserved better support from the board. Most Manchester United fans would have taken that happily when Mourinho joined.

He is ar_e no doubt but after exceeding expectations Woodward should’ve respected him more and backed him.

I maintain the biggest gap in quality between yourselves and the other contenders is football IQ in the coaching and management. Ole and Woodward are out of their depth. They are your biggest problem and you deserve much better.

Mad I may be but it’s true

Hard to tell until the window closes. If, as people claim, we were always going to be garbage for 5 or 6 games, the season is already a write off.

Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs have all significantly improved, we havent.

Top 4 (We have the 4th best squad in the league as it stands, so anything less is failure)

80+ plus points (a little wiggle room here but not much)

At least one trophy (a must)

If we can't achieve these then we need to start reevaluating things...

It's partly true and a major part opinion.
You can say it's Ole's fault, and I can tell you it isn't.
We couldn't wait for Jose to go.

Expecting cups alongside top 4 with a squad as thin as ours is ambitious. You end up looking fatigued as we did last season, that was with a long bread mid season.

We had thinner squad last year and made 3 cup semis and finished third. Few teams in the league have squads deeper than ours and every team will be facing similar challenges. Plus Spurs and Arsenal's schedules could potentially the significantly more demanding than ours...

Sure after the attitude he adopted Season 3 no would would be surprised or blame you. Good luck this season. For a neutral a firing Man Utd is always a bonus. Cheers

Not sure if that is achievable as things stand, but even if we achieve this, we should be looking into a capable manager who can take us to the next level. I don't think many believe Ole will win trophies, so this should be the final season of the rebuild unless we say 2.5 seasons are not enough transition the team.

These articles are pointless until the window closes. We need to make a couple of signings, but it's impossible to predict where we will finish until we see what business we do. And also what businesses other teams do.

Dude it's impossible to say were any one would finish regardless of what they do in the next 2 weeks. How many a signing has turned out to be a dud? Spurs made top 4 and CL final without a single signing...

I very much doubt any team would be signing enough players with enough quality to change the fact we have the 4th best squad in the league...

I expect us to finish between 3rd and 6th. It'll be a strange season for many clubs and we'll see a wild card like an Everton or Leicester do well again.

Unless we get a big signing and he hits the ground running (sancho) or, say, Bale lights the league up or one of Chelsea's new boys... I don't see any one other than pool and city finishing in the top 2.

United DON'T "... have the 4th best squad in the league ...".

They do however have the 3rd best potential starting line ups. Problem is that won't suffice in a competitive league season - which last season wasn't. And also Ole seems dead keen on w@nking about with the twin deadbeats known as martial/gashford

AWB
Maguire
Smalling
Shaw

Matic

Fred/James
DvdB
Pogba
Fernandes

Ighalo

Is strong enough on an 11 v 11 basis - or at least it would be if United can find a proper keeper.

Ok, now the dust has settled and I'm a little more rational my thoughts on yesterday.
1)First game no need to panic
2)While I love ole and loathe woodward the result and performance was entirely down to ole and the players. We were playing CP not Liverpool.
3) My concern before kickoff is that utd are at a junction. Either do whatever they can to be challengers or settle for top 4 finishes like arsenal did a while back before fading into obscurity. Each passing day the later seems more likely

we had a great run but even then we all could see the weakness of the squad in certain position and in terms of depth. Or do you think the team that went on an great run is good enough to challenge?
