I know it's very early and he's only had a few minutes but I have seen nothing so far from Fabio Silva to make me think he's worth 40 million euros
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He was only on for 12 minutes.

And 96 minutes against Stoke

Bit harsh to judge an 18 year old lad so quickly.

I'm not judging an 18 year-old lad, I'm judging a 40 million euro striker and all I'm saying is that I have seen nothing after almost 2 hours of football to justify his price tag. I'm sure he will improve in time but I'm wondering if the money would have been better spent on a striker who is ready to play prem football now.

I understand your concerns Gem, it is a huge amount for what is basically an unproven youngster and i do wonder if it is a wise one for a club in our position that does not have excess amounts of cash we are allowed to throw around.

I personally think we really could have signed Joao Felix but didn't have the bottle to do so and now he is worth a crazy amount and we didn't want to dither again on such a prospect.

Time will tell i guess and for this season i think we really shouldn't expect too much but the downside now with the Stoke defeat is that he likely will not be getting much of a chance to settle in and get good minutes.

Nuno straight bats the Nelson Semedo question...

"We had our targets identified and we have them. We are working on them. I'm sorry but I cannot go much further than this. Let’s wait for things to be clear.
"Until the transfer window is closed we must balance our squad." #wwfc

Sounds like more than one incoming to me with those words

It is far too soon for anyone to judge Silva. But unlike some on here I do see glimpses of something special.

People need to remember he is just a kid. To be getting minutes already shows Nuno has some faith in his abilities.

Time will tell, but I think Wolves may have played a blinder.

Marçal out for six months.

Agree completely Amiga. To me there was plenty in Silva and Vitanha’s performances against Stoke to show we have signed two outstanding prospects. We didn’t need to replace Jimenez and Moutinho now but the fact we may well already have their replacements at the club is fantastic business.

Neto did little last night but remains another outstanding prospect. We have a very good team now and we are doing the right thing to develop an even better one in the near future

Certainly not going to judge Silva in any way just yet, but understand that's going to happen.

City's plan to flood the midfield, overwhelm Moutinho and Neves and get at our back three in numbers worked well. Boly got little help defensively from Traore and Saiss apart from his moment of madness giving away the penalty also got turned around too many times. Coady was unusually guilty of giving the ball away but was defensively fairly sound I thought.

Boly is getting dragged out to provide the wide right cover and I dont think he's quite back in to his groove yet either. Hopefully the situation is being addressed, Nuno clearly didnt trust Buur to do a job at RWB last night. Will be interesting now to see what happens with Vinagre now too, we surely cant let him go with no other cover for Marcal.

Final point, Nuno's wish for us to be more adventurous and attack minded whilst welcome in some respects, mustn't detract from what got us to where we are. Neves turning up in the opposition penalty area, Saiss bombing forward to support Jimenez, Coady even venturing over half way. Its positive but it makes me nervous because we're not taking care of possession well enough and it's our shape and team structure that our success has been built on. Some little bits to work on, new players incoming and a comparatively gentle run of fixtures should give us plenty of opportunity to get our groove back quickly.

Those are fair points oldgold but we have a fairly comfortable win at Sheffield behind us and after being totally outplayed in the first half last night we could easily have earned a point against City in the second half. So I would say it’s been an encouraging start for us and every reason to think we can do at least as well as the last two seasons.

If the Samedo transfer goes through I would like to think we will never see Traore in that position again with Hoever being the second choice. Traore has been a liability in defence, and missed in attack, so that change alone will generate big improvement.

If I have a concern from what we have seen so far, which carries over from the latter part of last season, it’s that I do fear we are seeing the beginning of some decline in Moutinho’s contribution. Not saying he should be thrown to the scrap heap now but I think Dendoncker offers more, and I would like to see Vitanha get some chances from the bench

The main big difference between the teams for me was De Bruyne, he ran the game and was outstanding.
Without him, City look pretty average and player for player not that much better than us IMO.

The last goal was a shame as we had given them a run for their money, Guardiola was wetting himself just befor the end.

If only we could play the whole ninety minutes as we did in the second half. But I saw good signs in the second half and not worrying about the forthcoming games.

No question in my mind that De Bruyne is the best player in the Premier League and one of the best players in the world

Wolves U21s play at Oldham tonight in the EFL Cup. Don’t suppose it will happen but I would love to see our best U21 starlets get games in this competition

Notice that Bonatini’s loan to Grasshoppers is for two seasons. So I guess that takes him to the end of his contract with Wolves

Cant help thinking that Bonatini would have been a good squad option to have, particularly in the half seasons before and after Cutrone. Clearly not in Nuno's plans despite his blistering start to 17/18. Grasshoppers look like they're becoming a bit of a dumping ground.

No official news on Semedo yet.
