We do need a LB, but I’d like to think a CB and RW are a bigger priority.
Lindelof and James shouldn’t even be a consideration for starting roles.

Obviously it isn't the PL, but that alter the fact that he is obviously an attacking LB with an excellent cross (so I have heard).
Shaw can't cross for toffee and Williams is more likely to cut inside. Rashford also likes cut inside. We are a bit one dimensional down that side and Telles would hopefully give us someone that can get to the byline a bit more often and who can put in a decent cross with his left foot.

Just someone who doesn't run down the wing and cut back, 100% of the time.... Would be good.
Someone who has a bit more intelligence than to just smash the ball across the pitch, hit and hope style like that cross from Shaw the other day that was so high it almost landed off the other side of the pitch for a throw in.
Bit of a myth that the other leagues are much weaker defensively than ours now days anyway, anyone actually watched the standard of defending in PL games in the last couple of years?

Just watched a few videos of the lad. A fair few of his assists are from freekicks and corners (which he takes from both sides), although there were also some nice assists from open play. Looks willing and able to beat a man and whip a cross in.
He also looks to be a good penalty taker. I assume he takes them for Porto.
Looks like he would give us some nice balance down the left side and also offer a threat from set pieces.

Yep. And that is just in the league. He has another 6 assists and 2 goals in CL. And I would assume some in the cup.
He has averaged a goal or assist every 3 games over the course of his career. Not bad at all. Shaw in contrast averages a goal or assists every 12.6 games.
I'd read that PSG were favourites to get him but that our talks were more advanced.
