PL Net spend so far + your 10 best signings

Chelsea now trying to shift Hudson-Odoi.

What a disaster that has been. 120k a week was mental.

How is Chelsea’s net spend only £130m when it’s widely reported that they’ve spent over £200m? Who have they sold?

posted on 23/9/20

Wolves is wrong also. They’ve made €79.2m in sales and spent €81.8m, according to this.

The Chelsea-signings seems to be quite underrated here. For me Havertz and Ziyech are the stand-out signings as you can build a squad around these two creative forces for years to come.
I don't think there are many teams with that much ability in midfield bar City and Real.
Other signings that look good now (James, Tiago) or probably will come good (Bale, Tiago Silva) won't last very long and will probably leave a huge hole that's to fill in a couple of years.
Just like teams were relying on an aging Ibra, David Silva, Pirlo, etc...

Morata loan deal ended this summer and the obligation to buy kicked in so they got 60m for that and 13.5 for selling Pasalic.

Leeds signing international players viewed as not overly impressive, but Fabio Silva is your 10th spot? Good lord.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Rodrigo has already cost you a point tbf and Koch given away a pen. Not the best start for them.

Fabio Silva is at the start of his career so i'm basing it on his potential.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sounds like you're basing it entirely on his pricetag in the OP.

Rodrigo and Koch had spent 3 days with the club before the Liverpool game. A fitting time to judge them in a game against the champions of England away from home?

I think Ziyech this season may be the most important / most successful out of out three signings. To reiterate - for this season.

I’m not sure how Fabio Silva made your list. Tbh he has all the hallmarks of a classic flop. Breaking their transfer record for a guy who’s made barely a few league appearances and is just kinda seen as a decent young striker?

posted on 23/9/20

hes 28 soon so the more experienced you'd expect him to settle quicker.

Look at his record for the unders Portugal sides it's fantastic, he's one of the highest rated young players in the world for a reason.

Porto fans wanted to keep him but the manager wasn't using him. He only played 180mins in their league last season.

Record in the UEFA youth league is fantastic.

We will see with him but he's a huge talent.

As for the Leeds players we have to judge them on what we see, i said they will fit the system but personally i'm not overly impressed but it's just my opinion.

They sold Morata this summer. Last year they loaned him to Atletico with a fixed price to buy of £56m. They also sold Pasalic for £14m

----------------------------------------------------------------------
The fact he's played such little senior football (at a club that have pedigree for playing young players) is just more reason to show how big a risk he is for 35 million. Untested and unproven, yet tenth best signing in the PL.

As regards Thiago, having spoken to quite a few people in Munich, they admit that he is a good player, but, are not unhappy that he has moved on. Perhaps it's due to the fact that they trust their board implicitly, and the board also are not overly enthusiastic about Klopp, and they have history of course.Consequently,if the board are happy to sell Thiago, to one of their main rivals in Europe(Klopp/LIverpool),for an average fee in this day and age, it seems that all was not as it seems !

Having a good record at youth level but little-no experience at first team level really isn’t a good predictor of potential. In literally any country in the world you can find strikers who’ll be scoring a good rate of goals for youth club and international teams with no experience at senior level. Rarely see any clubs break a transfer record for this type of signing with good reason.

I think that's misleading, given the potential for improvement in position is so much greater.

Clearly United aren't going to improve their league position and nor are Liverpool.

Chelsea would do extremely well to climb more than one place.

Of course. Which is why it's silly when people say for example, we spent £100m but stayed around the same but such and such only spent £50m and improved. It's easier to do that from a lower position as where you shop has many more options.

I see some people already saying they should have signed Rodriguez but then he may not have got the game time, where the pressure is higher and the competition for places is fierce.

Quite regularly.

Cutrone, Afobe, Bonatini, Miranda, Mir are a few. They are run like a top Portuguese club, buy in bulk, hope enough turn out good.

fair enough their striker recruitment hasn't been as good as elsewhere.

Still think Silva will be a star.
