On a more serious note, that’s a pretty nuts day you had. Puts a dent in confidence for a while. Hope your missus is ok
Been a long day of calling. Police, banks, every place under the sun.

You've every right to beat the living 5 h1 t outta this sc umbag but you'll be the one arrested and stitched up by our weak law courts. You'll probably have to pay for the poor mites injuries which they'll milk to the hilt. Then maybe prison whilist he walks free to commit more crime.
This country always puts the criminals rights over the victims. It's what makes this country the way it is😡
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh I don't know about that. When I lived near Ormskirk for a little while two lads broke into Duncan Ferguson 's house, big mistake.
He beat them up and never got charged, cheered probably.
Of course you need to make sure you can beat them up, otherwise you're in for a bad double.
That was about 30 years ago though wasn't it

Did the police actually turn up or anything?
Heard too many stories from workmates who’ve had sheds broken into or attempts on their patio doors where the police never even bothered because they had “no one available in that area”

Does her car not lock? Or is yours just a chitbox?
Where abouts do you live mate? Glad noone got hurt etc.
How did he break into the car? Smash the window or?
Crazy that people will walk into a cul de sac, that's probably a neighborhood watch area, without a care in the world.
I walk my dogs at midnight, every night and first thing in the morning. I see some right dodgy fkees around at those times.
Both my dogs are 50+kg each, so they make me feel a bit safer but still.
I know you’re probably venting frustration on here, and I don’t know if you genuinely think you’d have beaten him up, but anyone who thinks about doing that in this day and age, are mad and stupid. There was no physical threat, so what would you be achieving apart from trying to look macho?
There are several outcomes if you did happen to catch him. He’s harder than you and you get filled in, you manage to beat him up and risk getting prosecuted yourself. Or worst case.....

This is why you need a semi automatic .22 hand pistol, preferably with laser sight. You can hurt an antagonist - literally take an eye out - without having to get within striking distance. Also, you should’ve got in the car to pursue him, much better chance of catching him up than on foot. And, why did your missus leave her purse in the car overnight? Never do that.
I used to live on a private cul-de-sac and one night some slag set some device that blocked all the vehicles central locking signals, meaning the cars were all left unlocked. They can back early hours and ransacked every car, got away with my RayBans. They must’ve been small timers though as not a single car was half inched, just whatever contents they could find.
Most break ins these days are for car theft. I always leave my car keys downstairs overnight. If someone is gonna be that determined to break in I’d rather they just took the motor than went looking for the keys with my kids in the house. That’s what insurance is for.

I live in Bedfordshire. No the car wasnt smashed. She has wireless entry to her car so he used some device to unlock the doors.
I've since watched better cctv of the event from another neighbours footage. The guy is very nonchalant in his approach to the cars, hangs around 2mins to the side of my wife's car and then jumps in once it's unlocked. He then gets out and leaves just as my missus comes out. He wasnt in the car more than 40-50 seconds. I'm guessing as he saw the movement near the front door, so bolted rather than getting caught. He wouldnt have known who was coming out, me or my wife.

Agree with this, no point getting into a fight with someone who seemingly has nothing to lose.
Horrible feelings knowing somebody has accessed your belonging. Had a house broken into once and it’s a difficult feeling to shake.
Glad all is okay, now he’s aware the owner will chase him I’m sure it’ll be the last you hear from him.

I’ve heard about this. Apparently keeping keys in a metal box prevents this. And I guess of course, being careful leaving belongings in the car. And in cars with keyless ignition (as well as keyless entry) it is possible using the same tech to switch it on and drive it away.
