Yes he was OK, but not for very long unfortunately.

Sandy and took in 224m in the same time frame. Net spend over five seasons. 107m outgoing, whilst annually getting top 4, to a champions league final, over seeing a stadium change etc etc stuff of miracles. People simply don’t understand the magnitude of just how much he changed Spurs on a shoe string budget.

Where do you get the idea Poch wasn`t backed, he spent over £331 million from season 2015-19, I have not even included his first season.

Lo Celso £14 million
Sessignon 24 million
Ndombele 54 million
Sanchez 36 million
Moura 25 million
Aurier 22 million
Llorente 13 million
Foyth 11 million
Sissoko 31 million
Janssen 19 million
Wanyama 12 million
N`koudou 10 million
Son 27 million
Toby 14 million
N`Jie 12 million
Trippier 4 million
Wimmer 5 million

I mean to say he wasn`t given money is a nonsense, he was given plenty, just didn`t spent it that well. Only Son, Toby and Trippier for £4 million can be called successful buys as it stands. Lo Celso and Ndombele jury still out, the rest have not lived up to their price tag according to most on the board.

Jose definitely has pulling power. He seems to have got all his major targets. Whether that's convincing Levy to spend or the player to come, I can't deny that he has performed extremely well in this window (though we are yet to see how they perform).

Looking at those Poch signings, there are some absolute stinkers there. I always got the impression that he would give Levy a list of targets and would just be given a budget version in return.

When Poch joined our revenue was about £225m.

Now its £460m.

Since Wembley and the new stadium matchday revenue has gone up about £45m. TV revenues have jumped by £70m and our commercial revenue has more than doubled to over £150m.

we also had the massive outlay of the new stadium and caution was taken on spending during that time.

Its no coincidence that 1 year after the opening of the new stadium we spend £140m in the summer and Jan windows, and after not selling anyone to fund it. and now we are spending again.

When you look at the revenue to wages ratio, ours is something like 35% after the big increases in revenue outstripping wage increase. So there is scope to get more players in, have a bigger squad and pay more without risking our financial position.

Put simply our stadium, when full, earns £3m more per game than the old WHL. Levy does not like to spend what he doesnt have, but now he has more to spend.

I think he has been given budget version targets. Do you really think PEH and Doherty were his main targets?

Surely we could find better players had he been given an open cheque book. Hakimi at right back from Real to Inter Milan for example. I'm sure he would have been on the list but he cost €35m.

We made the mistake of signing 7 players in one window before, all of which had no experience in the prem. I think it was important that in the summer overhaul we signed players that had experience and could hit the ground running. Also, Jose wants strong personalities in the dressing room and PEH, in particular, fits the bill.

Also, for some reason you failed to mention Bale, Reguilon and possibly Srinkiar. So yes, I do believe he has got who he wants.

I think he has accepted our budget and is prepared to work within it but ideally he probably wanted bigger names. You are right though in Bale and Reg, they are probably tier 1 signings if you like. The defender has not signed so point discussing him for now.

Anyway I want Levy to give Jose a Partey. He just what we need. Doesn't look like it's even on the cards. Sigh.

Not to most on this board. I thought they were fine. Sanchez will play a big part going forward I suspect.

Why wasn't Poch backed like this?
******************
Different time, different place.
Poch's team had just come off a CL final, Levy didn't see the need to spend.
A few years later, the squad had aged and was at one point lying 12th in the table.
Levy knew he had to scramble to bolster an aged and over the hill squad.
Ergo... the influx of new faces, some good, some not so good.
We'll see what difference it make this coming season.
