What did the chairman say?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He basically said he wished they hadn't done the testing because the club is losing out. I understand the frustration and the difficulties particularly for lower league clubs. But he's effectively saying he would have preferred to put peoples lives at risks. So I lost a lot of sympathy at that point.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
He's completely right though isn't he? A club in dire need for the money could have earned an extra £150k for keeping quiet. He's not saying he wants to put people's lives at risk, quite the opposite, as he decided to take the test offered. He is saying though that there is clearly no incentive to get tested if you stand to lose a ton of money based on the results. This isn't pocket change. It keeps people in a job. The point he's making is that based on this decision and the fact that the EFL have said that testing is an option, not a requirement, lower league clubs from this point on will just reject any testing procedure offered to them if there's a chance they'll lose a potential windfall. It's nuts.
Look at Newcastle. They played Morecambe, who refused the test offered to them. The game went ahead and now we have no idea whether any Newcastle players have been affected, which could put Sunday's game at risk. The Orient chairman hasn't put any lives at risk. He's clearly one of the good guys. It's the money grabbers at clubs like Morecambe that refuse to even take the test that are the ones least deserving of sympathy.

I agree that clubs shouldn't lose out for testing, but he said in the same position again, he wouldn't do the testing. So he'd prefer to 'unknowingly' have the virus passed on to multiple people than have his club lose out financially.
I agree that the 'powers that be' need to make a clearer position on this though, as you're right that any other lower league clubs will now likely look at what happened with Orient and just refuse testing.

Hang on! Have I just read this right? We've got to play Newcastle Sunday, Chelsea Tuesday and M Haifa Thursday? That's an unprecedented fixture overload. I've never seen that before. I really hope Jose prioritises the league and Europe. Carabao can do one if they're not willing to reschedule the tie.

Think I read it’s about £100K they lose out on, which is a fair bit, especially during this Covid 19 period.

It’s a shame for Orient as they’ve done the right thing and lost out as a result. In doing the right thing they’ve protected us and, when you add that to the duty of care that PL clubs should have toward all lower tiers of the game right down to grass roots I’d hope we can make some sort of gesture so that they aren’t out of pocket ie donate our TV money from our next round fixture to them or something. Our fans have already shown the club the way.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Also - arrange a pre-season friendly next year. I’m sure the fans would flock to that game - assuming they are allowed to do so next summer

Depends what kind of team Chelsea put out too.
I can't actually believe the decision. Begs the question as to what will happen in the semis/final if it is two of the PL big boys and one team is in the same situation.

Yep, I feel the same. Obviously I'm glad we don't have to play the game but it sets a dangerous precedent. One, it's difficult to swallow on an ethical level as it encourages clubs not to get tested and two, the EFL have now pushed themselves into a corner where the same rule has to apply to much larger clubs in a more crucial stage of the tournament.
It effectively means that with the rising level of cases, it's not beyond the realms of possibility that a winner could be crowned without kicking another ball (that may actually be our only way of winning something under Jose).
