Warm up

Looks like Ole has enough of Lindelof, which is a good sign.

What has been said to know this? Not seen the press conference today, any other news or decent quotes?

Solskjær: "Eric [Bailly] is fit again, a big, big plus and looking forward to seeing him develop and play more games. We’ve been waiting him to be fit and play more regularly."

Solskjær: "I think last season proved to us how we can defend at our best, last week wasn’t fantastic, we conceded sloppy goals but I think our defensive record from last season with Eric [Bailly] and Harry [Maguire] how good a partnership they were."

He'll give away a Penalty in minute 7

i personally rate lindelof more than many, but i can see why he might be "rested" after last week.

moderately interesting though that it takes lindelof just one real shocker to be dropped, whereas DDG has been bullet-proof over the past few years.

I like Bailly. Long rest may have done him good.

BBC:

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been speaking to the media this morning. Here is what he had to say...

Not surprisingly, Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer didn't really want to talk about transfers this morning.

"I am very confident in my players," was his reply when I asked if United fans could expect to see some movement before the transfer window closes on 5 October.

"In football can’t predict too much. My focus is solely on the game. We need three points on Saturday, then we can talk again."

The one player Ole Gunnar Solskjaer did talk about was defender Chris Smalling.

The former England man has been training on his own since returning from a successful loan spell at AS Roma.

There had been talk Smalling could be re-integrated into the Manchester United squad but Solskjaer didn't seem too certain about that.

"Different things need to happen then," said the United boss. "Let’s see if there is that change. Let’s see what happens to Chris when the transfer window closes."

Manchester United's Premier League campaign got off to a disappointing start with defeat at home to Crystal Palace last week and boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is demanding improvements.

"I wasn’t happy with the Palace game," he said. "We weren’t ready to play at the level we needed. The game was very disappointing but I'm still confident we can break teams down."

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was also asked about the coronavirus pandemic and the prospect of games being played behind closed doors for the foreseeable future.

"The situation we are in makes it so difficult to predict what is going to happen," he said.

"The rate is going up. I am worried for League One and League Two, of course we are, but all the Premier League teams are losing money.

"Hopefully we don’t lose too many clubs. Locally we have seen clubs struggle. It is not a nice situation to be in."

Manchester United have no fresh injury concerns for Saturday's game, with Phil Jones the only confirmed absentee.

Eric Bailly is available after making his first appearance of the season in the midweek EFL Cup win at Luton

"Eric is fit again, it's a big bonus and plus for us," said Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. "I'm looking forward to seeing him develop and play more games. We have been waiting for him to be fit and play more regularly."

A number of first-team players were rested for Luton game so they are likely to return.

Solskjaer also confirmed young defender Axel Tuanzebe is close to a return to first-team training. The 22-year-old has been sidelined since December 2019 and suffered a setback in June that required surgery.

Ole rarely talks about transfers so I'm not reading much into that.

Wonder what's gone on with Smalling, I'd like to think Ole told him the door is open if he wants to return.

Apparently he's struggling to shake off a pulled face.

Bailly will be subbed during half time.

Re: transfers. I would be very surprised if we make any major signings, not because of today quotes but I thought his initial reply the other night after the Luton game was telling. When asked about player coming in his first response was ‘we work with what we have’ or something to that effect, he did go on to be a little more ambiguous but I thought that was very telling.

Me too. Another sicknote I fear though. Hopefully I am wrong and he manages to force his way into the first team. If not for his injuries I am pretty sure he would already have cemented a starting spot with Maguire.

Having Phil Jones injured has me scared schiitless! How do we expect to compete like this? It's a travesty.

Getting close to fitness again apparently.

I hope they’re taking their time with him, because at this stage of his career, he really needs a solid 12 month run without injury.

I don’t think he’ll come off injured. 70th minute red card.

That's ridiculous, he'll injure the entire backline first!
