I’ve always liked Steve Bruce, seems like one of the good guys in Football.

They got away with one last season as well

I agree with Bruce, that he has benefitted to day but the way it is going and being implemented with a zest, there will be more games and more side victim of this, in the coming days and week, unfortunately.

This makes the game a mockery.

To be honest before VAR was introduced I was one of the few on here that really did not want it and was slaughtered by everybody telling me how great it would be and how no team would suffer from bad refereeing decisions.

Well now we have it and it has not improved the game one little bit.

i said the same after we got one vs leeds, i dont agree with it but if theyre consistent we're all gonna be on the wrong end of it this season at some point.

Joke of a rule i think most of football refs included probably hate this rule. Can't believe its been implemented like this, who is responsible?

No, it really hasn’t, it really destroys the flow of the game too.

Tbf that wasn’t a VAR problem it’s the incompetent ref and laws

Overall I have to agree. Although I think the rule changes are the biggest problem atm. And VAR isn’t being used only for clear and obvious mistakes, as we were led to believe.

I thought Bruce was excellent in his interview

If he cared that much he’d have told the team to score an own goal.

Come on MK did you not really think this sort of crap was going to happen? Its been laughable since the day it was introduced even when we have got the decision.

When Bruce and Pallister played, that kinda VAR stuff was just unthinkable. Literally not sure whether to cheer a goal now. Im all for aiming for correct decisions. Heck pay a ref 100k a week if players are getting 300k as they have the potential to ruin a match. But VAR is just not for me.

Why did VAR not take a look at the Newcastle hand ball, whilst his arm was not away from his body, it blocked a pass to Kane and his arm moved towards the ball, albeit fractionally. He also had enough time to get his arm out of the way, unlike Dier who was 1 yard away and not even looking at the ball.

Fair play to Bruce. I really don't get how they can change the laws to something which 99% of the football community disagree with.

Not sure how the law changes come about but I think they need more input from ex players rather than ex refs.

That is something very associative with Spurs, when the officials shy away from giving big decisions, those that change a game to us.

We don't get them given to us easly as easily at the other end, when the officials is always eager to point to a pen against us.

That's what Jose was alluding to.

If a decision is against us, the ref will make it. If it is for us, the decisions seems to be wave on play on.

I don't think it's an anti spurs bias thing as Newcastle are hardly the fashionable team. Harry Kane being a key England figure, an English ref couldn't help admire these guys. I think it's symptomatic of the issues with var.

This handball rule...if you want more goals and happy to change the rules, why not make the goals twice as tall. Allow folk to run with the ball in their hands, give them a bonus penalty after a goal.

I remember thinking 3 points for a win was a big change, but VAR is different level.

I think the bias thing is proved laughable when you reflect back to our CL game against City or our game last year against Sheffield Utd at home to name but two

Yep we need to get over this idea of bias. It will effect some teams more than others, but it’s ruining the game for everyone.

Nothing to do with VAR, nothing to do with the refs,
Both are following the new rules, which are now in line with other counties.

Var got it wrong today but I think the issue is the new handball rule and/or its interpretation.

Var has done lots of good and all fans can think of huge errors in key games or tournaments that Var would've stopped. It needs more fine tuning for sure but justice is usually served. The proximate cause of this is the rule itself I think not Var.
