the ref has to give it because of the law.

however there were two instances were ball crossed into to Newcastles box seems to hit the arms of their players but these were never further investigated for penalties.

worst thing about the penalty was the farcical decision the ref gave to award them the free kick that led to the penalty. The cant was looking the other way as well.

never going to happen.

the thing that makes it a farce is that its only the defenders that are penalized. if the ball hits an attackers hand and the team score, its just a goal.

Absolutely ridiculous inconsistency and rule, and goes without saying that spurs get facked over by it more than anyone else.

sadly, we should use the rules to our own advantage and stop complaining as much as it hurts me to say this.

we have matches coming up faster than the pillocks in football corridors will change the rules.

Best we start aggressively shooting from distance and crossing regularly. Score more and this stupidity wont happen. we should have been 4 goals ahead.

I can't blame the ref at all on the pen. This is a directive from IFAB I think? He is just doing his job as he has been told. The Leeds one, Lindleof and Doherty are all being given because that's the way they have been told to apply it.

I can blame the ref for the free kick that led to it mind, the Geordie speared Hoijbjerg and was given a free kick?!

yeah the ref is a facking caaant. also, is it me or was carroll offside? the caaant is offside, so the freekick wasn't a freekick, they have then checked the offside, and decided he was onside, when those kind of hair width ones constantly go against spurs, and then given a penalty which just isn't a penalty. its laughable. i actually don't really care any more.. i just find it quite amusing and ive pretty much had enough.

if i had paid for my ticket to be in the stadium on the other hand, i would have been furious... as it is i can just laugh at the whole thing from the comfort of my sofa.

facking joke

Why would the ref not give it after reviewing it? It was handball according to the laws of the game. If he didn't give it after reviewing it, he'd have made a massive error and likely wouldn't have been punished. The game needs to be fair for all, not favouring Spurs.

Some interesting stats on MOTD2.

PL Penalties in the first three weeks of the season.

19/20 - 8 in 30 games / none for handball
20/21 - 20 in 26 games / 6 for handball.

They also pointed out that the Spanish and Italian leagues have had these new “rules” for a year already and are already averaging 3 times as many penalties as the PL

So I guess that’s where we’re heading.

No. If the ball hits an attackers arm and it results in a direct assist or goal, it's a free kick.

spurs constantly get facked in the arris by this kind of nonsense. we should have killed the game by then anyway... but why didn't VAR check the one when it hit the Newcastle players hands? didn't even check it. the facking caaaants.

Should suit you then, considering Kane's record from the spot.

VAR checks everything, you just don't see them checking it, unless the game has been stopped and the TV company decides to show the camera on the VAR studio.

I said before , the way to do it is with the fans. Obviously once we get over this current pandemic and fans are allowed back in, I reckon the fans as a way of protest should not turn up until something is done about it. Why should any fan turn up for a game of footy, pay good money and see their side get f*** over by pathetic VAR decisions? Just get rid of it. It’s a failed experiment and it’s ruined the game.

Can't wait for someone to break the goalscoring record with 90% of their goals being penalties.

Good luck in your interview, TOOR.

Will you tell them that you need 3 hours a day 'personal time' in order to defend VAR on a football forum?

Penalties were already a harsh rule as it is. This just makes it 10 times more harsh. Absolute joke.

So a cross can come in to a striker to shoot it on goal, and he complete fluffs his chance and his shot goes away from goal but hits a defender's hand and he'll get a penalty from it.

Nope as I don't! I don't use the website during working hours, only when I stop for a break. Although in one job in the past I literally did one hour work and seven hours on the site! I'll not mention it, of course.

the Son injury really is the icing on the cake. typical, starts looking on fire, now he's out 'for a while' joke.

Doherty and Hojbjerg were good signings and proved yesterday why they were and why theyre upgrades on what we had.
Add Bale and Reguilon, fair play Levy.

However still no facking striker and that current CB pairing is just not good enough. season already started without addressing those issues and we have more games this month than we will any other month this season.

The good news is that with this new rule we have more chance of getting goals from Kane's free kicks, when his shots keep going into the wall.

Well that would depend on the defender. Perhaps defenders will learn to stop making themselves bigger. Most other players in other legs put their arms behind their backs. Understandably you can't do this all of the time but if you're seen to be making the effort to not make yourself bigger and get your arm out of the way, it's unlikely you'll be penalised.

The lack of striker caused Son's injury. The only way to rest Kane is playing Son, so Son has had to play every minute this season.

Ridiculous a striker hasn't been signed yet.
