Think Yesterday Was Bad? I'm Afraid It

Tbf you'd have had pretty much a similar fixture schedule as most other clubs, had it not been for Arsenal winning the FA Cup, and pushing you into the EL qualifiers.

This season is going to be crazy so I have some sympathy with the organisers. However, the 4 games in 10 days over xmas every year shows they couldn't give a fack about the player's wellbeing. I find it crazy we still have that schedule.

Don't blame conspiracies thank your neighbours Arsenal

crazy fixture list. we had to play to 2 games in 2 days last December on 2 different continents.
We played the kids in a league cup quarter final in one of these games and they were beaten 5-0.

posted on 28/9/20

Just play the kids in the League Cup, it is a mickey mouse tournament and you don`t even qualify for Europe anymore if you win it.

I am not one for conspiracy theories, but I do wonder if this would be permitted if it was Liverpool or Man U.

Of course it would. But we weren’t shiiiiit enough to have to play a qualifier for the Europa.

What did you expect them to do? The schedule is bad for most clubs that are playing in Europe as the season has started later.

Exactly this. If Spurs don't want the games then send in the U18s with U18s coach so the first team can rest.

The biggest scandal is that Spurs have been forced again to play Sunday (yesterday), Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday (and the Sunday game against Man U would have been on Saturday but for a late change due to TV schedules).
-------
The United game would have always been on Sunday or Monday due to Europa.

Do you not remember the League Cup and Club World Cup from last season?

If the fixture list is crippling you so much, you play your U23's and rest your first team squad and have them play in the games you need them for. Yes its unfair, but do what most clubs (and even the EFL) have done by neglecting the LC and focus on the EL and PL games.

Tbh if I were Jose I'd send out the kids in all the Cup competitions and concentrate on the thing that's most important to the club.

Winning more penalties in the league.

Exactly..
Didn't Wolves have to play a ridiculous amount of games last season or something similar to Spurs? I didn't hear this much moaning from their manager.

it's only us to blame again. It's not the leagues fault we finished in Europe and failed to win a cup.

Comes with the territory as far as I'm concerned.

Sorry to say but fans beginning to illustrate why we dont have winning mentality throughout the club.

we complain and play victims too much when most of the time we are the victims of our own actions. From Penalties to hectic schedules.

Yep, I was aware of that when I wrote my article. The difference is that only the League cup was at risk, not PL position or a European tournament

We’re gonna have to play the kids (or a very weakened side) in one of these games.

I’d pick the League cup for that.

we also missed a PL game so that added to our already busy schedule. So no we didn't get any favors.

World club cup was basically a glorified friendly, so no comparison.

Basically a glorified friendly? It was a contractual agreement as part of being in the CL and subsequently winning it which was a chance of silverware?

I know there is an argument that it is basically like the Community Shield which I do understand but the League Cup is becoming a joke because nobody is taking it seriously anyway.

You're moaning about a ridiculous fixture list yet its your own fault for being in Europe.

Spurs could have done the right thing and awarded the tie to Leyton Orient, giving them the night off and the Orient their glamour tie with a bit of extra TV money.

The league cup should’ve been binned off this year

It was floated as an idea than European qualifiers wouldn’t take part this season. But I read that it would have caused massive problems for the EFL due to tv commitments for these clubs to be entering. One of thr reasons the prize money for the league cup is shiiiiiit is that a lot of the tv and ad revenue is put into the coffers of the EFL, and then redistributed through the leagues.

They rely on this money far more than I realised, which is why they won’t scrap it - especially given the troubles they’re going to have now with covid.

I love all this, would it have happened had it been Liverpool or United?

FFS get the tin foil hats off lads, its the same rules for everyone in a fooked up season.

Just play the kids in the LC as the only prize is a place in the new Losers European competition.

This type of schedule is inevitably going to bring on more injuries to key players. I am not one for conspiracy theories, but I do wonder if this would be permitted if it was Liverpool or Man U.

They refused to adjust our fixtures(Liverpool) last December when we played in the Club World Cup. Had to play U18s in the cup and got hit for five.

No favours.
