The Long Road To Perdition is another good film.

Lock Stock/Snatch are gangster movies too, no? Or are we sticking to Mafia only. If so, Godfather probably, though the sequel and Goodfellas run it close, as does Casino
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Reservoir Dog’s is on the top 50 list too!
Have you seen a Guy Ritchie movie lately, they are appauling. 50 intertwining stories that thinks it's really clever with the most basic sterotypical characters and stupid phrases.
Horrendous movies.

Oh snap yeah, good call. Not a huge Reservoir Dogs fan - it's OK, not a great for me though. But Pulp Fiction is class.
Enjoyed American Gangster at the time, but weirdly never got round to watching it again.
Might not be as good as I remember it...

NO, that’s one of Scorsese’s worst!
Goodfellas, Casino AND Mean Streets all come above it!

I love The Departed but have to mark it down slightly for the fact that it's a very faithful remake (down to many scenes being basically identical) of the Hong Kong movie Infernal Affairs. The original lacks the panache of Scorsese's direction and it has a couple of cheesy moments but it's a very good film in its own right.
Casino is a very underrated film btw. Unfavourably compared to Goodfellas.
But let's face it, not being quite as good as Goodfellas doesn't necessarily mean a film isn't good.
Casino - Sharon Stone gives the performance of her life
Heat
Those are my top 2
Seriously urge anyone that's not yet seen it to watch Once Upon A Time In America.
Yes, it's long. But you won't regret it, I promise.
Russian
Plus the original doesn't have the happy ending which is really unneccesery. It's a bit like the US remake of The Vanishing with the pointless added ending.
Also To Live & Die in LA, Friedkin originally wanted a depressing end but was forced to shoot a happier ending.
There's a bit halfway through Once Upon a TIme in America where a car drives into a lake where you can stop it and watch the second part another time.
