Pfft. Yeah, only 1 million people in crisis that is only really beginning and rises exponentially. Sure its nothing to worry about.
I know you're playing up to your user name for the purposes of attention seeking and your point about the children is fair.
Nevertheless this has to be the worst OP in 606 history
Magnum
The OP is making the point that we have had saturation news coverage about Covid for eight months and 1 million have died, mainly elderly with underlying health conditions.
More than three times that many children die each year from something that if the rich nations put even half the effort into tackling that they have done with Covid we could have put an end to decades ago.

Very good.
Hard to get past the first sentence though.
It's almost as if we in the "first world" only care about something if it directly effects us.
====================
That has always been the case. Infact that's the case everywhere. Human nature.
Tell that to someone who lost someone they care for

Tell that to the parents of the three times as many children who die every year from totally preventable hunger.
Doesn't everyone care about something more when it directly effects them? Stupid comment really
Never quite understood the rationale of listing other deaths, I find wholly stupid.
Furthermore it's one million deaths despite locking the world down.
Would you kill your gran to save 3 children in Africa is the question you are asking. Interesting.
The OP makes a fair point, even if it is obvious and unnecessary.
Could have done it in a slightly more sympathetic manner.

And it ain't finished yet.
And a lot of those were wrongly put down as covid deaths so the actual number is unknown.
If they put the guns of the world away and used their armies and monies to help the less off country's, most of those Children wouldn't die!..
But pointing out Covid and the elderly with underlying problems, does that mean take the elderlies rights away to live?..
The world is ridiculously over populated.
The world population is still rising, despite starvation,COVID, wars, cancer etc.
We’re doomed.

Stretty makes a better point about the deaths wrongly being put down as covid deaths so we do not know the real figure.
An extreme example of this is if someone had covid back in February, then died in a car crash in June, then that would go down as a covid death as the person had covid at some point.
In reality the actual number who died from covid (not with it or had it at some point) will be likely be much lower, whilst the number of people who have had it will be much higher than is reported due to so many not having symptoms and not getting tested.
Those are just some thoughts. Please don't kill me mags.

That's not entirely true. Whilst CV19 fatality recording is extremely complicated, deaths are considered on a case by case basis.
The example you provided for example, the cause of death would not have been recorded as CV19 but a road traffic accident.

That example was just from a nurse I know who said that they could release the body to the family sooner if they put it down as a covid death. It may have just been a one off example. But still, in most cases it is very difficult to be certain that the death actually had anything to do with covid.
