Great signing for United. Real, real quality and provides a true attacking threat from the left.

Hmm, 27 year old playing in Portugal.

Don't know anything about him, but feels a bit underwhelming?

We don't need squad players in that position and we should only be signing top quality players there imo.

Looking at what our signings (including this potential one) have been so far it would seem Ole is 100% content with his first 11 and wants a couple of squad players to help them rest when needed.

BBC reporting rumours as fact again, Elvis.

The BBC are only reliable when they are reporting things that suit RDD's agenda, so I doubt this is true.

We recently signed a 25 year old from Portugal, he doesn't seem to have done too badly

We’ve been in talks with Telles for the last 2 weeks, shows how useless British media is when they’ve only just caught up on it

I can't comment on his quality but if it means we have a more attacking alternative to Shaw, and we don't have a significant drop in quality / experience when Shaw is injured (and let's face it, he will get injured), and if Brandon Williams gets to develop on his favoured right side, it looks a coherent move on paper. A squad improvement that doesn't cost us too much in today's money.

The discontent should be about not addressing other areas of the team, but if this cheap signing goes through, I'd suggest it's not the cause of failure to invest elsewhere.

Good left backs are like rocking horse sh!t and Yelled can play a bit.

Strengthens Utds squad.

Agreed, I don't think this deal would be preventing other deals from happening.

Time will tell, but just feels like a bit of a 'meh' signing - might work out well, but far from guaranteed.

His attacking stats are very impressive, albeit in an inferior league.

No problem, Elvis. I won’t indulge.

Hopefully this signing will be done soon.

Apart from his name I know FA about him.
But what I have read over the past week or so is correct he will be a good buy. Good attacking fullback which gives us another dimension. Not the top needed position, but still boosts the squad.

Elvis: King of Cult (U7425)

Yeh that's the issue for me - 27 and not really done it in a top league.

Represents a gamble.

Yeh hopefully it works out. Moutinho was 49 before he finally joined a pl team and he worked out ok.

True!

I haven't seen much of the guy, but some of my portuguese friends speak highly of him.

The deal makes a lot of sense... He can play LB when we need a more attacking option, but would also be perfect if we move to a 3-5-2 again in the tougher games.
