I was surprised to see the EFL bloke on BBC citing it as a good thing. He's obviously been paid off/offered a big pay off, to support it. Culture secretary has already put the kybosh on it. First thing he said was it was a power grab by the top clubs and they must find a way to pay the EFL without restricting anybody's PL voting rights. Then threatened to review the entire governance of English footy if they don't. In short...
"Find another way that doesn't involve a power grab. And if you don't then I will intervene and not only will I make you pay anyway. But I'll also see to it that the power you have now, is lessened/restricted in future."
So unlucky to the shady northerners who tried to get away with stealing the PL. Not happening since it looks like the culture secretary might just be a supporter of one of the teams you're trying to feck over with ya lil power grab SCAM! Nice try

Not sure why the Prem has to reduce in numbers, and also why scrap the League Cup and the Charity Shield? The League Cup gives the smaller teams a chance to get drawn with the big boys, why take that away?
I would sooner they sorted out the ridiculous Group Stage nonsense in the European Competitions. Just revert back to straight home and away knockout ties from the off, straight draw, no seeding, no country protection. Would be much more exciting, and would cut down on an overcrowded fixture list at a stroke.

I agree 100% Sandy but it won't happen, The seeding ensures that UEFA can sell TV rights pretty much certain that the last 8 will contain most if not all of the big names.
Finding ways to keep the Tier 3/4 teams afloat should be a priority for the FA and EFL but most of the better supported teams obviously won't see it that way. There is still space for the League Cup, the top teams generally put second stringers/academy players/those out returning from injury in any case.
Without changing the voting rights it makes some sense, otherwise it is just a power grab.
Ditch the League Cup and Nations League imo.
I’m against this for many of the reasons above but the one benefit would be that £250 million to keep the EFL clubs from going bust.
If it’s the only way to keep them alive then this should go ahead. If those other clubs can find other money and ways to survive then this proposal loses a lot of its lustre.

I agree 100% Sandy but it won't happen, The seeding ensures that UEFA can sell TV rights pretty much certain that the last 8 will contain most if not all of the big names.
Finding ways to keep the Tier 3/4 teams afloat should be a priority for the FA and EFL but most of the better supported teams obviously won't see it that way. There is still space for the League Cup, the top teams generally put second stringers/academy players/those out returning from injury in any case.
Without changing the voting rights it makes some sense, otherwise it is just a power grab.

I’m against this for many of the reasons above but the one benefit would be that £250 million to keep the EFL clubs from going bust.
If it’s the only way to keep them alive then this should go ahead. If those other clubs can find other money and ways to survive then this proposal loses a lot of its lustre.
