I’d like us to get a striker sorted but have become resigned to the possibility of it not happening. I’d rather we stick than go for a Hail Mary on a desperate signing.
We had a plan but Darmstadt had other ideas. So I think we should use Waghorn as a 9.
This Wilson news is piquing my interest. We don’t need anymore wingers but if he’s interested then we should bag him. Top quality as we all know.

Until I see them holding up the shirt I'll keep stump.

All the rumours when 80% are tabloid and Internet rubbish would do the nut in and even worse that it's in unprecedented times and the likes of Austin would rather sit on the bench and collect the tasty wage rather than do it on a cold Tuesday night in Stoke.

None of the above list rise me above, meh.

Although he's done SFA since he left, Wilson whilst he thought we were a stepping stone with us may feel the opposite coming back but won't deny I'd love to see him return.

With players coming back and with what we've got, a hold up big ass striker, would just do me.

1. Much as Harry Wilson was a great success here I cant see this one as (a) Unless he's improved his physique since he left us he's too easy to knock off the ball (b) I dont see him on the wing as we now have 'proper wingers' in Jozwiak & Ibe (c) the No 10 role we're well stocked with other players.
2. Sibley speculation (IMO) is Leeds trying to unsettle the player.
3. Jozefzoon has no future here & if he has any self respect he'll find a club to take him.
4. The No 9's we've been linked with are under contract with their parent clubs so they WILL sit there unless pushed out.
5. I do think we need an extra No.9 but if our search doesn't come to anything I'm sure it wont be for the lack of trying / trying to keep within sensible financial implications. So assuming we can get Waghorn & Lawrence fit I'd be ok in sticking with them & trying JHI with them too. Waiting in the wings we also have Bobby Duncan & Jack Stretton who also are one's to watch in the future.

I'm happy to see Waghorn play number 9, IMO this is his best position
Has anyone seen the text allegedly from Wilson when asked if he's coming back to Derby his reply is he isnt aloud to say but it has a ram emoji on it

Happy for any of the youth players in the first team squad to leave if the price is right

If Mel wants the academy to pay its own way, id prefer if they were sold to do this rather than cram them in the first team to meet targets

3m loan fee with a view to buy if promoted

I can't see the Wilson deal happening, feels more like a marketing ploy to get us excited before signing a 'Paterson' or 'Dowell' type player to evaporate that excitement. I see him joining a Welsh club or one of the relegated sides before us.

We've already paid 1 million+ to have him on loan and will have to pay another extortionate amount - surely makes more sense to find someone young for that figure. (Norwich signed Emiliano Buendía for 1.3 million)

I think it'll be the Villa striker or Zohore that we might go in for.

Not an exciting suggestion but thoughts on Lee Gregory? I know we've been linked to him in the past.

Nothing wrong with Paterson, i would swap him for the drunk any day of the week.
Is it a coincidence that the ex Derby forward line is top of the league

6 goals in 7 games for Paterson (3), Weimann (2) and Martin (1).

I'm happy for Waghorn to play 9, but he usually needs 3 touches before he controls the ball. I remember a 9 who could and still does trap it first touch.

I don't want Wilson, he would be on high wages and if you take away his left foot shooting, he hasn't got much else. We have got Rooney for the long free kicks and penalties and we have got plenty of wingers.

I agree with you UNCLE, give me Paterson any day than the other person you hint at. Funny ain't it, a forward line of Paterson, Yman and the great Chris Martin are top of the league.

I can't remember may people singing Paterson's name when he was here though?

Did we do the normal Derby trick of playing him out of position?

I wouldnt want any of Weiman, Paterson and Chris Martin as my front 3 as none are good enough for a promotion challenge over a season

none of them would have a transfer value over a million which tells you enough

How you can talk about excitement evaporating and then talk about your interest in signing Lee Gregory in the same post is puzzling Desi

Agree with you vc except for the funny bit, it's an absolute tragedy.

Paterson had one thing against him when he was here. Coco was the manager

Personally, I think we'd be better off not recruiting an ex Forest player. Commons in recent years strikes me as the only player to have had some success (playing wise) and all others have flopped.

It was Paterson's vibe on joining Derby, that he really didn't want to be here and circumstances dictated. His comments this season indicate as much to me. Possibly why Cocu didn't play him. He was certainly reborn returning to Bristol City.

Been informed that loan offer for Wilson has been accepted by Liverpool. Here's hoping the loan deal includes the use of Jürgen Klopp too

I don't think we necessarily need Wilson but he has shown that at this level he has plenty of goals in him. With him, Lawrence, Jozwiak and Ibe we would have fantastic options for wide positions. But we still need a better centre forward. I liked Martin but I think that Cocu's preferred plan would be to get the ball to the wide players quickly rather than using a player like Martin as a pivot, which as we saw under McLaren opposing teams eventually got wise to and could cut out. I think Cocu's preference in that position would be for someone to stretch the play or to provide aerial threat from crosses, ideally both. Maybe Waghorn can do this to an extent but for me we desperately need another.

It would stop Jason Knight being pushed out wide and used in his more natural position of central midfield.

Wilson Lawrence Jozwiak
(Holmes) (Sibley) (Ibe)

CF

Not a bad attacking three at this division, IF, the Wilson deal comes off and having Holmes, Sibley and Ibe to rotate with.

I think we may have to go into the bargain bins(free trans) and find us a centre forward.

Balotelli anyone?

Sakho (ex West Ham) or Oumar Niasse ( ex Everton) could possibly do the job depending on how extortionate their wage requests will be?

Paterson was total dross for us. I wouldn’t sign him even if it was a choice between him and Miriam margolyse.
Currently a guest of the NHS again after they thought that killing me on the operating table was a good idea. Hopefully they might consider letting me go tonight.

Everton have a very good kid in their under 23s who stood out when we played them last season. Ellis Simms. I don't think he has any first team experience but he looked a class apart and more advanced in his development than Hector-Ingram.

posted on 14/10/20

Much rather go for a seasoned pro than an U23 player from another club, if that was to be the case I'd wait for Bobby Duncan to get match fit and give him game time or throw Hector-Ingram in and see if the responsibility/opportunity allows him to grow.

...I dont think we need Wilson at all. How many of his goals were from open play - and how many were free kicks and penalties ????? Rooney will take them now....
