Superb lad and great to see him champion a cause that's close to his heart.

It is a travesty that in 21st Century England we have children going hungry, a complete scandal that there are 3m+ children living in poverty.

Rashford will not change the world but is using his platform in the right way to shine a light on an issue many of us never thought existed on this scale or ever experienced it ourselves.

Post football I foresee a career in politics awaits Marcus. Hopefully that is on the back of a football career that sees his immense promise fulfilled to the max!

Agreed. For instance, regardless of what people's feelings are about a man like Corbyn he went his own way (often against his party) on so many occasions and still made it to the very top position par actual PM.

Just because you join politics doesn't mean your always have to tow the party line. The best politicians do what is right regardless

Don’t believe for 1 second that 3 million kids live in poverty. What do you class as poverty these days? Not having the latest iPhone or sky tv or a PlayStation. Can’t afford to feed your kids don’t have them. Let him cover the cost if he cares so much.

Exactly!

The number of Sky dishes you see stuck to the side of council houses is mental! What is a full sky package now? £90/month? That £90 could go towards feeding their kids that they just have and expect the rest of us to pay for. Not to mention the fancy cars.

Whilst there are a lot of families who have fallen on hard times, business failed, lost jobs etc. that deserve our help, there are a lot of degenerates out there that just expect handouts, so pop out more kids to get more handouts.

An acquaintance of mine who just can't be bothered to work, was offered a 2 bed house, but turned it down. Then they popped out at third kid. I asked him why, he said to get offered a three bed. Plus he hid over £30k abroad to circumvent the savings rule. So I reported him (he is still waiting for his offer).

There are a lot of people who need help, but more who use kids to get it by having more kids.

I have two kids because that is all we can afford without getting in debt etc. We would love a third, but being sensible, we can't afford it. My kids are well fed, clothed and get everything they need (not want, need).

Certainly not mental, but perhaps a little smug. If everyone was like me there would be no hungry children.

I don't know any of the figures, I'm not a politician. But people who fall into hard times, on to the universal credit, have choices to make between rent, heat, food, clothes.
We are a rich country, we are building a rail line that will cost tens of billions.
We shouldn't be doing that while there are hungry children. I know some parents are feckless, so give meal vouchers that can't be sold.

And all it takes is one answer. Some are, some aren't. The average are better off. The poor are poorer.

It's an easy get out to concentrate on a few nobs who cheat the system. However most people down the food bank really are desperate, they are legitimate and their numbers are growing.

Britain is getting worse and worse for a lot of children (and adults including those in work) unfortunately

When I was at school we fell onto hard times as my dad was made redundant and decided to start his own business. My mother at the time was a poorly paid teacher working 60+ hours a week supporting a family of 5.

I often had only enough money to eat lunch 2 times a week which seriously effected my studies and enthusiasm for school. I had a paper round from 13 until I could get my first job so I could support myself. There are countless families in this country in far worse circumstances than we were due to no fault of their own.

I wholewheartedly applaud Rushford in this. Even for those less virtuous families looking for handouts why should their children be punished? You are repeating the cycle by keeping them down and stripping them of the bare minimum needed to elevate themselves.
