Ole to 'rest' Maguire?

I’d start Tuanzebe if he’s ready.

I kinda feel for Maguire. Seems a decent lad and he's better than he's shown this season.

Having to be wrapped in cotton wool a bit and taking out of the firing line doesn't scream 'captain' though.

At least Pogba made the £90m back in shirt sales in his first week. Who is going about with Maguire on their back? Complete waste of money.

For his own good the guy needs to be taken out of the firing line. The guy was sent off for two yellows the other night - one in the centre circle and one on the left wing. What he’s doing there I don’t know - he seems to have lost his discipline and is jumping into reckless tackles.

Just play Bailly and Lindelof. They can’t be much worse.

If he doesn’t play, who’s next in line for Captain? Is there an official vice captain?
Pogba has had it the past, but he’s not captain material.
Bruno seems the likeliest?

With Lindelof? Don’t think him and Bailly would be a good fit.

I would give the captaincy full time to Bruno but if for any reason he’s not playing tomorrow (along with Maguire) I’d give the captaincy temporarily to DDG.

I'd say Bailly would be the better partner for Axel personally. Victor is too soft.

Could his bad form be a result of knowing he is guilty as charged in Greece and is worried about going back?

He’s playing in a back 5, prt of his remit is to be aggressive in stopping attacks and to come forward with the ball.

The second yellow was harsh IMO, but the first a border red card so no complaints really.

The pressure of the situation has clearly got into his head. Southgate is an idiot for taking him away with England.

Matic or McT will be Captain depending on who starts. Maybe even Rashford

Rest him and only bring him back when he's mentally ready

He is liability for his team and himself. Himself because the errors he's making is likely to injure himself or an opponent.

The form he's in he's also a target as the weak link

McT would be my choice of captain moving forwards. Bu he doesn't play enough right now. I'd actually rather see McT at CB than Victor right now.

OP, did you not watch the game then? Maguire stretched in a tackle before the one he got red card for, and did his hamstring and it was a surprise that he carried on. The injury is in my view, a genuine one. Just re-watch the game.

Isn’t DDG vice?

Definitely needs to be taken out of the limelight - there's enough crap going on at United without adding to it.

No I didn't watch the game. Fair enough if it is a genuine injury. Could be that he is ok to play but Ole uses it as an excuse to take him out of the firing line.

Whilst I think he probably does need a break, I would love it if he shows the character to start and has a good game.

Tuanzebe may play some minutes for the U23s this weekend apparently.

He’s not ready to be thrown in to start a PL game. They’ll ease him back.

I read that there was a decision to make as to who he would go back and train with, as the first team and U23s are operating in sperate bubbles. I though @d heard that he was training with the first team, therefore wouldn't be available for the U23s this weekend?

If Maguire is fit he should play IMO. If he does play and makes a mistake then the 'injury' could be a convenient excuse.

If we did have another two CBs in better form then yes, leave him out, but I don't think we do so he needs to knuckle down and get out of this poor run of form sharpish.

Who is this mythical defender that people keep speaking about.

Ole has today said that Maguire picked up an injury before getting sent off and that he is a doubt.
+++

Ole taking a swerve from the Fergie book of explanations here. Smart move from Ole. Buys time to make a decision if or not to start SH on Saturday eve.

it is very likely he picked up an injury, he was seen holding his hamstring not long before the red card

we will see.
