Berardi signs

Madness!

When was he injured - mid July?
Even the simplest of acl recoveries takes 6 months meaning he won’t be fit until February at the absolute earliest. Any slight hold up (very common that other muscle groups and ligaments break down in rehab) we may well not see him at all for this season.
It seems to me a sentimental deal rather than a business deal.

I think the club are right to allow him access to rehab etc but let’s hope the deal is very cheap wages max 1k a week.

Let’s not forget Izzy Brown who was far further down his rehab when we signed him and he was expected to be fit for start of January. Look how that one turned out.

Crazy, be behind Cooper, Koch, Llorente and Struijk at Centre Back and Ayling and Dallas at right back, will never make the squad and I doubt he will play for the U23's.
Waste of money.

Not for me...

Love Berra but not good enough IMO..

We’ve simply outgrown him.. having said that, if his influence is more in the dressing room, then I get it

Some judgments here without knowing the details.

- weekly wages?
- covered by insurance (I doubt it as its a pre-existing condition, you can't get a new car policy and expect them to pay for damage already incurred)?
- is he coaching kids in between rehab?
- is he operating as a club ambassador?

Nice to see loyalty being rewarded, doesn't happen much in business today.

Value should never just be seen in financial terms.

Things like this can mean

Better morale
Football a small world, other players see this and think, I wouldn’t mind playing for that club
Brings fans closer to the club.

Don’t know about anyone else, but I’d rather earn a few quid less and be somewhere who looks after and appreciates its staff.

Or do people want to go back to old days of Bates, GfH and cellino, where they’d screw anyone for a couple of quid

Definitely better off with Radchancer, eh?

Club over any manager player or owner. The clubs best interests must come first

It’s the clubs best interests in terms of looking after finances that some of us have.

I’d suggest that if you favour extravagant expenditure for poor value gained then it is you that should maybe go watch Man City

Extravagant expenditure is a 9 month contract to a player who is clearly loved and wanted by his team mates?

Yeah, this will be costing the earth.

If you want a club with no soul maybe you should go support arsenal

Having different opinions does not mean anyone should go support anyone else.

Get a grip boys and girls!

I don’t care about the footballing logic. It’s a great gesture & display of loyalty to a clearly popular player. Add this to the letter about BD & it shows a club we’d only dream of not so long back.

With Coops, Matty and Jonny on this. Love the player.
More importantly, the players love the player. MB loves
him too. One of my faves and always will be.

Should've said:

Great points LIW. This and the Douglas letter
from Orta screams good solid club. And as
LIW says, who wouldn't want to play for us
seeing stuff like this?

Really glad we have done this. Never remember in my 30 odd years as a Leeds fan a player who has not played much (douglas) be so effusive in praise about the top brass. This just feels like the right thing by the man for me. Got injured playing in a nothing game when we were promoted already and he was out of contract. Good on the club

This is the only site where i have seen any negative comments towards it.

Great from the club for me

Loyalty in football. That's something you don't hear too often nowadays.
Good on the club again.

Playing without a contract, Berra put his whole future on the line for our club to help us get over the finishing line.

I'm overjoyed to see the club repay his loyalty.

This isn't a matter of money. It isn't a matter of "is he good enough?". It's a matter of honour, morality and humanity.

It's yet another thing that makes me glad for the changes that Radz and Bielsa have made to the culture of our club.

Berardi has always been a favourite of mine and I am really happy the club have seen that he will be looked after during his rehabilitation. He is a player who has always given his all for our club and has remained loyal no matter who has been the manager. I hope he recovers in time to play football for us in the Premier League, before his contract expires, as I think he deserves it.

You really think he's ever going to play the premier league Maid, what position? Cooper, Koch, Llorente and Struijk ahead of him in central defence, only way I would see him playing is at right back but honestly, if Ayling is out I see Dallas shifting over and Davis or Alioski playing at left back. Nowhere near good enough for the Prem.

Been an excellent servant who barely scored lower than a 6 in a game. About time attitude and aptitude got rewards and recognised. He's decent cover at right back and is a good experienced player to have around the younger players. Love the guy

I think it’s good that the club do the right thing and look after someone who got injured in the circumstances he did. Whether a year’s contract is the correct answer I genuinely couldn’t say. It would take an extreme set of circumstances for him to ever get game time, if he does get fit. But in terms of the bigger picture, it sends a good message.
