How is this a surprise? Walt Disney was well known to be racist and a Natzi sympathiser.
Can’t recall Lady n the Tramp, but watched dumbo a while ago and the crows are definitely a bit off color.
I'd still give Jessica Rabbit one.
Walt Disney is facking evil mate

Mate, she’s about 60 ffs
I've received the guidelines from my company today. Basically we need to update the system and replacing terms like master/slave terminal, white list/black list as it is racist.
I think the fact the OP doesn't think racism was a thing 70+ years ago is quite an enjoyable part of the article.

I don’t think he’s saying that, I think he’s saying it doesn’t count as it’s a cartoon.
Is this news? Dumbo having scenes of questionable taste when it came to race is not something new. People been aware of this for years. Why is it being presented as if this isn't the case.
Never seen Lady and the Trampo (was aware of the racial issues surrounding some Siamese cat characters), but loved Aristocats as a kid. Can still accept that some of the characters in that take questionable approaches with representation of race,

We watched the aristocats a while back, the scene where they sing “everybody wants to be a cat” has a Chinese cat in it, the only Chinese character in the entire film, and it’s an incredibly racist depiction of a Chinese person.

A couple of years ago my mum finally got rid of all the old VHS tapes from when I was a kid. I kept Jurassic Park for sentimental reasons and Song of the South because it will never air on tv and although it isn't a film I was particularly bothered about I don't like the idea of being told that what I could watch 20 years ago isn't allowed today. My main memory is thst the film needed a lot less talk and a lot more Brer Rabbit.
By all means advise people that what they're watching is a product of it's time and may offend etc but to me companies trying to erase part of their history doesn't sit well at all.
With Dumbo I know the Jim Crow thing has gathered attention in recent years but I really don't see the fuss. Granted it's been quite a while since I've seen the film.
It surprises me that people nowadays are surprised that back in the days things and people, including Disney, Einstein, Black movement members, were racist, because it was more rampant in those times.
I don't blame creators or individuals, because they had a narrower world view that was common in that timeframe, but if you watch things back now it's hard to ignore them. Just like rewatching old Bond movies makes me cringe as some of those 'romance' scenes are blatant sexual assault nowadays...
But I don't condone deleting scenes and rewriting history, just to allow people to see what was commonplace in that era and learn from it.
Disney not airing racist scenes in kids films is not them rewriting history, though.

Exactly
Very naive from OP!
Looks like the OP has scurried off somewhere, all of these old cartoons have racial elements to them.
Tom and Jerry was the main one.

The ones who usually notice racism in everything are the ones who are racist themselves.
It's called deflection and it's just another tool of the PC culture to force others into submission.
Fack all of them.

I can’t recall the specifics, it’s been a long time since I’ve seen them. But no way should they be removed, it’s not about rewriting history, it’s about education and showing youngsters just how things have changed. It always helps to be able to have a marker to highlight boundaries.
Personally though, I think people need to start being able to box a lot of these things off as belonging to a different era, and just accepting that people had a different view of the world and it’s people, rather than creating a fresh uproar about things from so long ago, some of it is getting a bit out of hand.
