I agree with you Donn on the first part. I think Meslier is doing well but he’s a young lad and you wonder what might happen if he makes a couple of mistakes. Always the threat of getting injured.
I’d be happier if we had a capable number 2 Who could step up if required. Casilla is garbage. A total liability and could wreck our season. He would struggle even more in this league because better set piece deliveries would target his weaknesses even more so.
However, Butland has been shocking. Gunn I’m not sure on as he’s not been playing much.
Totally agree though that there should have been a move into the market, but then I would have sacked Casilla and signed someone weeks ago.

Many established PL clubs do. Teams that can factor that into their wage budget. I would rather that money go on other positions where quality was needed urgently.

I’m not a goalkeeping scout but there are plenty at the club. Casilla was the highest earning player at the club and we had an opportunity to sack him for gross misconduct. We could have signed 2 new keepers for his wages. I accept that we would need a “footballing goalkeeper”. I don’t watch other teams week in week out to make an educated choice as to who could have got but give me some videos of the Efl 1/2 and I could find you a better keeper than Casilla by midweek.
Thing is, I reckon Bielsa already done that pal, would you expect any different from him?

Milky, agree... everything about our play is high risk FFS... that’s why we’re playing so we’ll.. you just know Bielsa has them practicing volleys from corners rather than goal kicking 😂.
That’s what I’m saying, kebab, i doubt it’s easy to pick out a decent keeper that comes with a brilliant footballer... the have to have certain qualities.. I reckon meslier number 1, Bielsa sees him as the main man in time.. and Kiko as 2, arguably the first keeper of his kind, player in the CL.. Bielsa has already stated about his leadership qualities..
To replace that, you’re not taking a keeper from Brentford or Stoke ffs.. that has to play in the premier league for less than 25 million! Better the devil you know lads.

People forget that as well as having poor games, Kiko has had some very good games for us as well. Clearly Bielsa rates him or he would have been replaced.
It's all well and good saying you want another keeper, but when push comes to shove you can't name anyone to take who isn't Jack fecking Butland or Angus Gunn.
Must admit a few weeks ago i was worried about our gk situation. However Meslier has been great so far so deserves a run in the side.
Romero would have been an ok signing.
Casilla is a tool.
Howevwr he would be fine if we needed him.

City and spurs have Carson and hart for their third choice for example.

Kiko should stay.
He is a high quality goalkeeper who perfectly meets our needs as either a first choice or back up keeper.
For the record he isn’t a racist; that is just the arbitrary opinion of the FA.
Some of us understand his culture very well and recognise how we are strangely much more tolerant of other far more disrespectful cultures than Latin/Spanish.
