Have we kept a clean sheet this season?

posted on 17/10/20

I hope the results today and the issues some teams are having really galvanise us and inspire us to believe we can achieve something. we have the quality. the players. the manager. Hart said we have a powerful squad and we just need to realise it and believe. and this is so right.

Does the team that concedes the fewest goals usually win the title though? I think you are just assuming this without any stats at all to back it up.

I imagine that quite often the team that concedes the 2nd or 3rd most goals, but scores the most wins the league.

Equally a very negative team that has the best defence but a poor scoring record could finish 6th or 7th or even lower.

Well we do have some winners there so let see.

I think in general the team that concedes the fewest does go on to win the league, but it is not 100 per cent I will give you that. Spurs though with just the one goal conceeded from open play are defending pretty well compared to most of the division, who are leaking goals for fun.

Would have kept two but for a couple of penalties. One in the last minute of a match, and the other in the first minute of the next match. So pretty decent really.

West ham have conceded less goals than us should we be worried

posted on 17/10/20

Your point surely undermined by the fact that sheffield United have conceded one fewer goals than you and have started sh!te. If spurs win the league (big if) it will be based on multiple stats, not just one formed very early in the season.

Spurs are also joint top scorers.

I think you would have to be an eternal optimist that think that either of those two sides will be winning the title

But Spurs have a shout because they won it ... never also?

Should have made your article about that, then.

Although its still way too early to use these as stats to suggest that you're going to win the title.

In the last 5 seasons, the team that conceded the least didn’t win the league 60% of the time.

In the last 10 seasons, the team that conceded the fewest didn’t win the league 60 % of the time.

In the last 15 seasons the team that conceded the least didn’t win the league 60% of the time.

Your entire article seems to be based on a false premise

We conceded the least and scored the most in 16/17.

Not sure your theory checks out, Sandy.

Researching 15 years worth of league tables to invalidate Sandys point, lockdown must really be getting to some folk.

There is no quality opposition in the Prem right now. It is all much of a muchness. Spurs though have the most potent attack and concede very little, so that makes for an absolute winning combination.
