Didn’t expect much more tbh. Pepe is really not doing a lot. Only Saka from wide is delivering but he’s just started out and should be 3rd option out wide at best not 1st.
Saka is our best wide player by a mile.
Wilner is useless. Pepe is worse than Gervinho. Auba is not a facking winger. Play him up front or don’t play him at all. Did Auba even have a shot today apart from the one wrongly ruled out for offside?

We wasted a chance here. They were poor like they were poor since the beginning of the season.
Arteta missed to take more risks. Surely he had taken out the tactics safety first but that wasnt right when we chasing the game.
Is it worse to lose 2 or 3-0 having had a go or lose 1-0 barely getting out your half?
The latter in my opinion. May look better on reflection given the scoreline but it was far too easy for City who would have been nervous given their recent results.
It’s a tough one cos if we did lose 2 or 3-0 then people will just say same old Arsenal etc. But in football you have to be brave and we just weren’t

We had as many, if not more chances as in the games under Emery and Wenger were we had a go and got battered against city
Def step in right direction but should have gone for it more
We had 19 shots in the previous 4 games this season. We had 10 shots this game so a considerable improvement. Still not good enough when you consider that Villa managed 18 shots against Liverpool. Villa are doing well so far this season but dont forget they were the lowest place team not to get relegated last season and only survived by the skin of their teeth.
I've been complaining for ages about our slow play and after Partey came on we really picked up the pace compared to beforehand and our normal play. Hopefully he can continue in place of Xhaka and we will see a sustained improvement.
