We Sure Arteta Learned From Pep?

When we played against man United at home under Arteta, the football was very pep like.

However, since then it has been disjointed, lacking any penetration and very similar to Emery style of football

1st half we were playing high up the pitch and had a very gd 20 min spell, they caught us out and scored from bellerin switching off. Naturally we dropped off badly and recovered for the last 10 mins of the 1st half when we should have equalised. 2nd half our front 3 were pretty pathetic especially Willian and Pepe , not aggressive enough. We gave City’s defence a day off when we should have maintained that pressure.

Even with the system we had There was moments we could have scored, then who knows what could have happened. But yes to me it definitely seemed Arteta was too worried with us just not losing by 3+ rather than beating them. I’m not too worried with us being like this against City at this stage, but if we’re the same against Man U and Leicester next it’s more concerning. He does need to figure out how we score if the precise build up play doesn’t work

Pep with the ball, Moyes without it

Arteta's influences are clear

Pep is a great manager going forward but needs an assistant who is better on the dfensive side. Arteta is defensive so was a good foil for Pep. Its not that he learned from Pp, its that he complimented him. You can see Man C dont defend as well since he left.

People expected a mini Pep in Arteta but it rarely works like that.

There was/is no Pep. City move the ball forward and fast. That's Pep in using this system. Not amble it up the pitch slowly, passing back on yaselves several times. We've got more quality upfront than Moyes ever had. Which is why this is Joseball. We're parking the bus against everyone. Just not as obvious against weaker teams because they park it too, playing us. Smaller teams just give us back the ball and won't allow us to sit back all game. They wanna get stuck into us instead. So it looks as though we're playing more attacking football against the but were not. Same big red, boring football bus.

Stop being an idiot, we've seen how easy it is to get dismantled by City first hand in the past. We can't match them man for man or in terms of system yet as they're so much further along with their project. We gave them a good game and with a bit of luck could have had a point, which is a good result for anyone.

KDB on and we WOULD have been dismantled. The performance today was half decent 20 mins and utter sh !t the rest and a more in form City would have made mince meat today. Them playing weakly by their standards was the only reason we never got totally embarrassed today. So no, it wasn't a good result for us at all, just a poor result for City because they're out of form. Pep'll be well happy because his team has pulled out the win whilst playing poorly.

Not a good result, but one of our chances go into and Bellerin and Leno don't mess up for their goal and we'd be talking about a tactical masterclass.

We're playing away against one of the best, most expensive teams in world football who are about 4 or 5 years into a project. Meanwhile we're a cheap club who have been mismanaged for coming up on a decade, a year into hopefully turning it around.

I don't know what you honestly expect.

YOU mighta said tactical masterclass. I'd still be saying BOREFEST! Having complained about teams parking the bus against us as much as we Arsenal fans have over the years. I have a problem with us adopting a bus parking strategy. Bus parking is for promoted and bottom of the league clubs.

I hate that sh !t on principle, it's gutless. You can play a defensively minded game, without flat out sitting back off the opposition all game. Play to win or don't bother is my motto. And bus parking, ain't playing to win. I'd ban it from footy entirely if I could.

In the long run I wanna see us go more toe to toe in these kinda games, but we have to have the players, the system and the game management to pull it off.

Right now, we're not there. If we're still doing the same after another 2 transfer windows I'd be be miffed. As it is we've got a horrible record of getting bent over by top 6 teams, I'm happy to see us tighten things up, get some better results and build on that as we get more confidence and a better mentality in these games.

What's bugging me is that today isn't a one off. I wouldn't mind so much if we'd done this for pool and today. But played kickass attacking footy for the other games against weaker teams. But we aren't, we're just doing the same against crappy teams we should be playing off the park. Yeah the club is on a rebuild but we're not such a weak team, we need to be approaching playing Sheffield Utd and West Ham, the same defensive way we approach playing Liverpool and City. Arteta's better than that and so are the players.

As I said on another thread, I hope the only reason we saw 343 today is he hasn't had Partey in training long enough to be happy with switching to 4 at the back yet. Because 343 definitely has to go.
