You missed the tactical genius that is Brendan Rodgers replacing a defensive midfielder in the 75th minute with...erm, another, less able defensive midfielder Whilst leaving two wingers on the bench...
Anyway, I'm not sure if this is a new crisis or a continuation of the last one. Did the first 3 games mask what are pretty big issues that haven't been resolved?
Why do we have so many long term injuries? We've had as many in the last 6 months than in the previous 5 years. And why did we let Benkovic go out on loan when we knew that Soyuncu had a serious injury?
Can we just change our home kit to maroon? It's the only kit we play well in.
The big question to me is why we have so many injuries. If I was a director, that's what I'd be wanting answers to. We've paid for all these players, we've sacked the head physio in the summer and we've got six Europa League fixtures coming up.
The situation we're in, I think the next 4 league matches are effectively a write-off. Focus on getting players fit while competing properly in the Europa League. Meanwhile I'd be looking to play some turgid, grinding stuff in the league, defending in lines, playing on the counter and trying to nick points where possible until the end of November. Although we won't of course. Not deliberately anyway.
And I think it's inevitable that we'll see a lot more of Hamza in that time. Hopefully someone can buy him the Big Book of Defensive Midfielder Positioning as a half-term gift. Or at least send him home with some videos of Wilfred Ndidi as essential viewing.
Also, I’m sure Grealish is shaving his legs
When you earn the money of a professional footballer, you can afford it.
Show off. Bet he uses a French cream for it instead of council pop.
And a razer instead of a snapped ruler.
All of the above.... Except the shaving parts.
Slim. 30 mil Natcho 25 mil and Vardy 1 mil. Lol
Rodgers just doesn’t have that in his make-up Dunge (as in his character rather than his eye shadow).
He’ll want to “attack teams the only way he knows how” which basically means trying to play on the front foot but ending up passing it around until we’re dispossessed and concede.
For me we need to genuinely attack games and accept we’ll be susceptible to the counter and push our fullbacks right up, or do what you said and sit a little deeper whilst using Barnes and Vardy (of fit) on the counter.
But to even think that we’ll have to give in the next 4 league games and just try and grind out results is a worrying sign of where we are.
Hmmmmmm.
Off to the shop to buy myself some french creme.
What we certainly do need to do is hold a load of players back from the November international break.
Nice to see you back Nev. I'll say what I said when we were top after 3 games - 31 points to go!
There's certainly an injury crisis that showed up last Season as we fell off, cause or result of is the question?
NO Team could have this many injuries to virtually every crucial player and be playing 'Total Football', question is do those left have it in them to play any kind of Football?
