You're right about Sanchez being bullied. He is so weak for somebody of his build.

Sissoko cost us 2 goals yesterday, he failed to even get off the ground to defend the free kick and made a pis5 poor clearance straight at a Scammers player in the build up to another goal.

Yep, he's not the greatest midfielder! But we do need that physical presence in order to compliment Ndombele, PEK and Lo Celso. I'm more worried about central defence tbh

Decent article mate. But the defence whilst it has issues is not the main problem. I have always maintained that it is the midfield that needs to get its act together. It is far to easy just to walk through the Spurs midfield and get at the defence. Until you start limiting the possession in that area, then Spurs will always have a problem.

I was quite happy with PEH and Ndombele yesterday and Sissoko buzzing about. As soon as Ndombele went off and Winks came on, alarm bells started to ring. Winks is totally useless at shielding the back four, and when you have a Winks/Sissoko partnership it usually doesn`t end well.

That said whatever the partnership in defence or midfield, no team should be conceeding three goals in the last eight minutes. It was a once in every 10 year fluke result for West Ham, and fortunately three goals leads are not often surrendered.

We all need to move on though now.

This is why the talk of us winning the title is nothing but laughable. We've improved going forward and I think PEH is looking an absolute steal, more than any other summer signing for me but it it is definitely defensively where we'll come up short. In terms of levels I'd say we're with Liverpool circa 2016/17 (when we were better than them). What did they do? They bought an absolute colossus at the back and kicked on. We might win a minor cup like the Carabao but for me you cannot win major trophies if you need to score 3 goals a game to win. Simple as that.

I'm hoping Joe Rodon comes in and miraculously hits the ground running from the lower leagues like Dele did. We need a talker, a commander. I'm also still not convinced at RB either. We need...

A centre half that will boss the others.
A better RB. Not convinced by either options in that department. Also, I noticed Reguillon left a lot of open gaps for WH to exploit yesterday. That may become a problem if other teams target him. We cannot play with our wing backs so high unless we're prepared to press, press, press. Give a half decent player time to look up and they'll find the space in behind.

Lots to improve on for me.

Yeah, it feels more like we're being guided by Ossie Ardiles than Jose Mourinho. This is just not in his style. That's where there's a problem. We had the players yesterday to kick on and get 4 or 5 but my gut tells me that Jose's advice was to sit on 3-0 as that's served him well in the past, when he's had the players to do it. Basically, we should never sit on a lead, however big as clearly we haven't got the players to do it. There's a disconnect between the players best attributes and Jose's instincts. It'll either click in place and we'll steamroller teams like a machine or the players just won't get it and the grumpy Jose from Old Trafford will emerge. Gulp!

Why is it laughable. Every other team is shipping goals in the Prem. Spurs have as good a chance as any. Only two last minute goals have stopped Spurs from going 2nd. Those slip ups won`t last forever.

Very defeatest attitude to think a team with the World Cup winning goalie, two of the best strikers in World Football, lots of other really quality players cannot have a go at winning the title. It should be a given that they are in with a chance.

Liverpool currently are shipping goals for fun in the Prem, nearly three goals a game, are you also writing them off, until they sort out their CBs?

We have the firepower to do it. In fact I wouldn't mind betting that the numbers we put up at the end of the season in terms of goals will be of a similar level to whoever wins it. That said, you cannot ever, ever win a league title if you need to score three to scrape a win. Liverpool were nowhere near it until they signed VVD and Allison. Yes, other teams are faltering but they'll click into gear soon enough. If ever we were going to win it, we'd need to exploit their current leaky nature, not mirror it. Truth be told, we've played 3 home games against Everton, Newcastle and West Ham and picked up a poor 2 points. Yes, we were unlucky in the Newcastle game but 3 games at home without a win against sides considered beneath us and you think we can win the title? Do me a favour. I think you might have been overly charmed by the Man U and Southampton games. They were both freakishly poor and we'd played more games than both of those teams at that point. Our fitness was higher because of the EL fixtures. I think you're getting ahead of yourself. There's definitely an improvement and we might get top 4 but you're setting yourself up for a big fall if you think that we'll win the league. Didn't I hear you say on another thread that if we don't win it this year, we'll defo win it next year? Wow.

I give an opinion. Take it or leave it. But hard for you to disprove that Spurs cannot win the league after just five games. Let's be fair two of those home wins have been stolen with the last kicks of the game. Very unlikely a team has ever been that unlucky in successive hone games. Both freak results.

Have to agree here. A defence that consists of Dier, Sanchez and Aurier isn’t winning a dime. Pi^** poor average s** they really are. Add Winks to the mix and Sissoko. That’s another 2 extremely average players. Until we sort out this defence, we are winning jack s**

Sandy one minute you bang on about our glorious history in the 60s, then you say the “ past is irrelevant “ of course the recent history isn’t irrelevant which is why Liverpool and Man City are very short odds to win it and we are like 14-1.
Now of course that doesn’t mean we can’t do it, it does happen and we need to drastically improve the defensive side to even come close. In fact that’s what has disappointed me most about Jose, he just hasn’t improved the defence or the frail mentality much at all

How is it irrelevant Sandy?

They run the title last season, so although it’s in the past I’d say it’s highly relevant as they essentially have the same squad (plus Thiago and Jota)
