Its not just that this Government is incompetent. Its also because their whole outlook on life, based on entitlement and self interest makes it impossible for them to respond to a crisis such as this with the empathy and care that is needed.

Incompetent, spiteful and vindictive.

Not a great combination.

And what’s the end game? What’s the exit strategy? Months or years of endless regional lockdowns?

Until there's a vaccine, I'm not sure you magically expect the government to eradicate the virus.

I don’t expect ANYTHING from these crooks, including a vaccine any time in the next two years.

Then you have nothing to whinge about, if your expectations are that low then surely they're surpassing them 👍

Can’t be doing with the pathetic Tory Bootlickers on here.

Lest we forget Bojo The Clown spent £53M on a garden bridge in London that was never even built and is now offering the whole of greater Manchester a paltry £22M during a pandemic. And let’s not even get started on the £12Billion syphoned off for their mates for a track and trace system that’s as useful as a chocolate teapot.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

What frustrates me is that nothing they do changes opinions. They are literally only there to serve themselves and those who fund them. They don’t care about anyone else.

Yep, very true. Not a compassionate bone between them. Seen that recently with the idea of throwing nets around migrant boats as if they are bunch of mackerel.

The damage they are doing to the reputation of this country is almost beyond repair.

That is why I cannot understand those that keep voting for them. Blimey 10 years of damage, and yet they want more of the same. That is why I said they get what they deserve, if they cannot engage their brain, and see that the Tories are using them to stay in power.

You have to see this for exactly what it is.

2 politicians not willing to concede their positions. Boris will always appear as the bad guy, denying Burnham the money he demands. Burnham will always appear as the good guy, fighting for the people.

Boris will never let Burnham win, and the opposite is also true. There's apparently £5m between them (£60m offered, £65m demanded). This reflects badly on both of them and only the very naïve will not see this as a power struggle that is not just political but also about personal status. Boris has the top job and will not have his authority challenged. Burnham clearly wants the leadership position and ultimately the PM position and this all adds to his CV. Standing down the PM! This is why his media has gone into overdrive. He's in a win win position but his supporters should also reflect on the fact that he's turned down support on a par with the other regions, just to make this stand. It is clearly about more than his local people, he's loving seeing his name up in lights

There is simply no reasonable explanation as to why the amount has been reduced to 22m. You can't blame anyone other than the government. Its a message, challenge us and you will not get what you were originally offered.

Its shocking. I literally cannot believe anyone can defend the government for this.

My thoughts exactly, and the fact that they won by such a big margin too is a really worrying state of affairs in our country imo.

I imagine folk in Kent, (voted strongly in favour of Leave) will be livid, as large parts of the county have/are being converted into lorry parks.

Closer to home, the NI protocol is already beginning to hit home, as no longer sustainable for GB businesses to export agrifoods to the province.
