Well that was Lille who valued him at that price, fans at the time would have been fuming had that deal fallen through. Can blame Raul for that , just hasn’t worked out for Pepe as of yet. He needs confidence, he’s a passenger at the mo.
We can blame him for that. There were far better players out there for half of his price. Not gonna pretend that I knew if he was good before we signed him but it was obvious on his debut vs Liverpool that he was not very good. How can our highly paid scouts and recruiters suggest we spend £72M on a player the average fan can tell is garbage after just one game?
Getting rid of him is not going to be easy.

Giroud is actuallly better than Lacazette. At least the donkey offered some physical presence upfront
Pepe's a 30m player, the club has to take the blame for paying a crazy fee for him. Same with Lacazette under the previous regime, 55m for a striker who's not top quality and not even better than Giroud. Pepe definitely has the talent to be a decent player for us but he's too soft mentally and can't assert himself in games.
You get the feeling Pepe could get better... maybe... Laca is getting worse if anything.

We would have been better off hanging on to Giroud. Laca has been a big disappointment and is just awful now.
Whoever scouted Pepe should be fired. Anyone can see that he is extremely one dimensional with a weak attitude and only suitable for Ligue 1 which is a much weaker league than the Prem.
This club has been extremely badly run for many years.It doesn't help having an owner who has no interest (other than financial) in the club.
Ozil has his faults and the club was absolutely crazy to give him anything like the £350k but he could certainly do a job for us this season, even if it's just coming off the bench. We have zero creativity in this team and we make Geoarge Graham's teams look exciting.
I think that we will really struggle to make top 4 this season . I'm not sure that Aouar is the answer. He was awful for France in the last game.
Hopefully Martinelli's injury will not have taken anything away from his play. He is our one big hope. Eddie, Pepe, Laca ....I would bin the lot of them .
I think we need a better scouting system . Gabriel and Martinelli have been our only successes in the last 5 years. The rest have been very average. No one had to scout Auba or Tierney.

We would've been bottom half last season without Auba ffs, he's levels above Laca.
