Just the Ozil FC fans.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not just Ozil fans but the Muslims, although I wish they would stand against all the persecuted Christians and other religions in Muslim countries/regions, which Nigeria is one of them.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Maybe ask the pope to intervene in
Christian countries to stop bombing / arming / stealing oil and resources from Muslim countries so everyone can get along fine
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The Pope is only the head of the Catholic Church.

I think we missed a trick on the China thing anyway. We should have fined him 6 months wages and his loyalty bonus and got 15 mil of our money back.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The fact that you're actually saying "our money" like you see a dime of Kroenke's money is quite funny. Why are you protecting that selfish greedy clown's pockets?

I wish Arsenal Football Club would make a stand against all the injustices in the world, as just every other football club in the world.

As a football club, it should be one of their primary reasons for existing as a football club.

Football.

Club.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No one cares whether they make a stand or not rather don't be hypocrites.

Refer you back to my (much) earlier question, which no one appears able to answer.

The uighur muslims.... Arsenal’s twitter account been inundated with tweets from them?

Exactly the pope has nothing to do Christians as a whole, and there are no Christian countries who do all that. Most western countries it's a separation of church and state, how can you not know this?

So, judging by the lack of answers to my fairly straightforward question from all you Twitter activists, I assume no contact was made by the uighur muslims to the Arsenal account?

Seems some people need to learn the difference between intercession and response.

You keep going on about your question but didnt actually ask that question until a few posts ago. And how exactly do you think the Uighur Muslims are going to tweet the Arsenal account when they are being held in education centers (prisons where they are forced to learn Chinese propaganda judging from news report) with little or no access to the internet? And if they did do anything to question the regime they would be punished for it.

The only reaction I heard about was China contacting Arsenal to complain about Ozil. Its not a huge leap of faith to think the treatment of Ozil was after the ongoing communication between Arsenal and China.

posted on 25/10/20

Wait. Are you telling me Lex is one of those guys that denies the Uighur Muslims persecution happening?

How on earth did you leap from my question to that bizarre thought, Dicked?

posted on 25/10/20

I’m actually amazed you’re even aware of Arsenal’s interaction with the Nigerians given your online breakdown about Project Restart and how you weren’t interested in football due to the pandemic.

News flash. Things are worse now than they were in the summer.

So what was your real problem with last season being completed?

posted on 25/10/20

Btw just to clarify, is it the case that all football clubs should be expected to Tweet their support to the Uighur muslims (a laughable idea anyway) or just the ones with former superstar players, sitting on still superstar wages, who are trying to construct increasingly ridiculous reasons for their form to have dropped through the floor so much that they can't even get into a Euro League group stage squad anymore?

Asking for some friends.

See what I did there

Because, unless you think Arsenal should also be getting involved in the US election, Brexit, the plight of gay people in Russia, deforestation in Brazil, free meals for children and every other political issue in the world today - which perhaps you do - then you'll know damn well Mesut Ozil is central to all of this discussion.

Remember him? He used to play for the club.

You're missing the point completely. Arsenal said they don't want to be involved in politics and they distanced themselves from Ozil's comments. Fast forward to yesterday and they're posting about issues in Nigeria. You don't see any issues with the hypocrisy of these clowns?

BLM is political.

They might not want to be involved with politics, but it's impossible to do so.

Doesn't mean they need to be involved in every political issue.

Right.

No quite sure what the problem here is then...

I do not know either to be honest

There is not a single part of our lives that isn't political. Your very right to breathe air is political. Arsenal pick and choose the easiest causes to support. It's not complicated.

I don't want em to be. Or even expect them to be. None of these businesses really care about BLM either tbh. They're only doing it cause they so they don't get cancelled.

It is hypocritical of the club, they shouldn't get involved in any politics. We've got a lot of fans in Nigeria so that's the reason. BLM is political as well but if you upset the woke brigade then they'll boycott you and hit you in the pocket or even start a petition.

posted on 25/10/20

A bit reductive that, 8bit. And tbh I doubt any club, Arsenal included, worry about losing the backing of, as you put it, 'the woke brigade'.

And even if the club have been hypocritical, can anyone blame them? As you and DJ say, Arsenal are already well known and loved by many in Nigeria. That stronghold obviously gives them the ability to act from a position of power, with no need to worry whether they'll get shut down by the government, and in turn be hit financially.

However, the club has no such footing in China, and given it's still considered a largely untapped market, of course they're not going to want to do anything to upset the apple cart.

Rightly or wrongly it's as simple as that.

You all want us to sign Aouar next window? Replace Lacazette in the summer? Pay off Ozil before any of that?

That will take money. And the owner won't be digging down the back of his sofa to find any, so...

Blame the club for many things. Just don't blame them for protecting their prospects in what could be a very lucrative marketplace.

Because, you know... that would be a bit hypocritical of you.
