No where in that link does it say we refused to sell him to Real. And the comment was for the January window.

Real have done a lot of talking as has Pogbas agent yet as far as I am aware we have never received a bid from Real. I am pretty sure if we received a decent one Ole would drive him to the Airport himself.

Real are broke at the moment so perhaps the only way Pogba can get his move is to run his contract down and either be sold on the cheap or go for free.

Where did I say that? Strange misreading of the situation...

It seems to be what you are suggesting. Maybe your comment that we have refused to sell him to Real needs changing because it isn’t correct.

We can hardly be refusing to sell him if no offers come in.

And that is the problem with Pogba. He was never as good as you thought he was. He wasn’t worth half of what we paid for him and now we are stuck with him until we get a half decent offer or he runs his contract down.

You don’t need an offer to come in to know a club is interested. Real could contact us (and according to his agent they did) and ask what the price would be. If that price is as high as I imagine it would have been Real probably wouldn’t have been able to afford it in their current financial situation as they have an upgraded stadium to pay for. So we may have refused to sell at a price under our liking.

The guy is a top player and had he gone to Real or Barca or City back in 2016 no doubt he would be looked at far better than he is now. But post SAF many players have looked worse than they actually are.

If he does run his contract down and gets his move and we can stop it for want of a high fee then I’m sure he’ll thrive. We’ve never really played him in his best position and supported by the right players. Even now he’s played out of position at 6. Is it any wonder he wants out?

Stop spinning. You will fall over and hurt yourself.

Five years ago a guy came to look at my house when it was up for sale. He didn’t make me an offer.

Did I refuse to sell it to him? No. Had he have made me an offer and it was below my valuation and I said no then I would have refuse to sell it to him.

Please try to understand this before one of us dies.

I think Donny was needed badly yesterday; quick passing was our only threat and Pogba doesn’t really do that. He keeps the ball for way too long too often.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Donny looks good from the very little we have seen, but my god is he benefitting from substitute syndrome... He's reaching almost world class levels sat on our bench.

Some people might be doing that but he’s clearly good at one touch football and we needed that quicker passing pace yesterday and Pogba doesn’t really have that.
Donny hasn’t done anything godlike yet at all but he’s a typical Dutch player, very good technically and he has urgency to his play; something Pogba really doesn’t.
I’m kind of done with Pogba now tbh, we’ve all given him a. Plenty of opportunities and b. Plenty of excuses

I would like to see him play more. That is for sure. I have seen him play for Ajax on the left where we had James playing yesterday and he buzzed all over the front line. Granted it is in a very much weaker league.

Don't want either Pogba or Bruno being shackled by defensive responsibilities (aside from the prerequisite defending required from every player on the field)

I'd currently go:

Back four

------McFred------

Bruno---Pogba----Rash

-----Martial-----

Robb,
Don't forget that you're talking to Vidicschin, one of the most prejudiced and begoted posters on this board.

I thought he was OK when he came on yesterday , if not very effective... He was much better in his PSG cameo though.

Having both he and Bruno in advanced roles would take the creative burden of just one player and allow them to actually link up in impactful areas...

He’s much, much better off the left than at ten.

It gives him the opportunity to drop off further and let the ball find him, receive it with his back to the touchline and with the play in front of him, and in deeper positions from which he has players moving to hit with longer passes.

IMO one of the best games he has had for us was his first one (I think it was against Southampton where he played as an old fashioned left half (sort of) where he played exactly as you have said above.

Pogba is still one of the world's best midfielders. Alas, he is misused by Ole. He should definitely be in a more advanced role.

posted on 25/10/20

No problem with him playing off the left but if both Martial and Rash are available, I'd rather have one of them, mainly Rash, playing there.

Pogba's best spell as a united player has come playing as a 10. It doesn't preclude him from influencing the game from a deeper position...

Will have to agree to disagree.

I don’t think he suits playing at ten in Ole’s system at all.

Don't think him playing off the left suits Ole's system either. We have players better equipped to play in there... Plus I don't think we even have the players to play Ole's system... I'm glad he's moved away from that rigid approach recently...
