Ole has double standards, Poch doesn`t.

posted on 25/10/20

Not sure about lowering them, but we certainly aren't doing EVERYTHING we can to raise them.

I think Ole got his starting XI wrong yesterday but articles like this are ridiculous.

What standards are you lowering out of interest?

I can't make Ole and Utd out. He got third last season, has beaten PSG twice away, and has reached semi finals, yet I don't think he should be anywhere near the job.

Not sure where this poch/trophies thing comes from. He had one of the best teams in the league for 2 seasons at spurs and didn’t win anything.

Not saying I dont like him as a manager, but there’s nothing about his cv that says success at the moment.

I think he deserves this season but if there isn’t clear progression his job should be under serious review.

The squad is arguably stronger then its ever been post SAF

Exactly this.

It’s not lowering our standards. We cannot expect to win the league as we haven’t since SAF. What we need is direction and mid-long term direction. No more of this chop and change, short term nonsense.
Build a proper team like Klopp did.

Hard to say, aiming for European domination with our current squad would be unrealistic for any manager in the world.

We should go into every season aiming to win the title and reach the Champs League final.

We dont at the moment.

I remember Liverpool with Brendan Rodgers, after a bad spell, it looked like he was turning things around and people assumed he will be given more time. The Klopp change that followed had nothing to do with how Rodgers was doing at the time, it had all to do with the the standard the club set and the goal they want to achieve. Ole has done what he can do in the 2 seasons he has had and to think he can do more to take the team to the next level is just wishful thinking.

this is an odd rewriting of history, after finishing 2nd in 13/14 rodgers led pool to 6th the following season (ending the season with the 6-1 defeat at stoke), still allowed him to start the next season in charge, but sacked him after 1 win in 9 left them in 10th in the PL. He was arguably given more time than many expected.

A better example of a team sacking a successful manager because there was a better one available is southampton, who sacked the manager who had taken them up because they wanted pochettino.

That’s just stupid. At the moment we should be aiming to get to a position where we can aim for that every season. To expect that now is just....stupid

I didn't say we should expect it.

I said the club should be the aim.

Northing wrong with aiming for success just don't get to critical if and when it doesn't happen.

Nonsense.

Its nothing to do with being spoilt. Its do with with a club of our stature and resources.

I don't think we have progressed at all under Ole, despite significant spending. We still look like a team who will be in a battle to scrape 4th, zero chance of challenging for the title, and little chance of winning the champions league.

So basically what we have been since Fergie left. I still cannot fathom have he has ended up with one of the biggest jobs in managerial football, with his lack of cv.

It’s exactly to do with being spoilt

United were the biggest club in the country when I was growing up, still had to sit back and watch Liverpool clean up year after year while we were a decent FA cup side
You probably aren’t old enough to remember those days, been brought up on a steady stream of success under fergie

Bayern, Real, Juve. None of these clubs would settle for going into a season content with a top 3 finish.
