Lack of Interest in Son

It's only recently that I think he's gone from being a top class player to a world class one. There's been a steady improvement each season pretty much but recently the form has been something else.

You'd think there will be some clubs showing an interest after this season.

Son is very happy at the club, having one of the best managers in the world there, and playing with Kane, one of the best strikers too

His performances have improved under Jose, since he's been selected almost in every game, and has been given some defensive responsibilities

Some players thrive under pressure

Sounds like he'll be signing a new contract soon enough too.

Can't believe how consistent and how good he's become, I remember early into his Spurs career he was either great or terrible, half the Spurs posters on here used to go on about his clown feet.

Fantastic player and as you say his personality and team ethic would make him a perfect signing for most top clubs.

Anybody else find the lack of transfer rumours around Son strange? Not that I'm complaining of course.

So on one hand you are noticing there is no interest in Son then on the next if their rumours you would prolly kick off LOL. Come on maaaaaan

FYI I love Son and in a worse case scenerio IF Kane was ever to be sold, knowing we have Son to take over the mantle of our main man puts me at ease.

But having both Kane and Son with both of them entering the peak of their careers...wow. We are so lucky.

Deliver King Jose!

Clown shoes

Why would any of our elite players want to move on, when they will win anything they want with Spurs? After the title this year, then CL in a year or two.

The "clown shoes" comments were always harsh. He's always been one of our better players but now he's developed into a world class player. First 4-5 years a top class player. Last year or so world class, adding more consistency to his game.

Didn't think he was great yesterday though. Couldn't control the ball on a few occassions. Touch of the Mouras.

You've made that up

He used to really struggle with consistency and his patches of form overrated him a bit. In the CL winning season he won player of the year - but didn’t score his first goal for the club until December against Chelsea (that goal beating Luiz/Jorginho) and then he only scored two goals in the last three months or something - both of which where against Man City in the CL.

Even last season he twice went 7 league games without a goal.

Hopefully he has fixed this as he looks better than ever currently, but based on historical evidence he may have a month or two off form later in the season. Hopefully he won’t or if he does we have the personnel to step up.

Son is on one of his hot streaks. When he's on, he is definitely world class. The issue for me is that when he isn't playing well, he is 5/10 as opposed to a 6 or 7 which the very best seem to be even when not playing well.
Still one of my favourite non Liverpool players and if spurs can get him firing across a whole season, there is no reason they can't win something this season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I completely agree with this point, while his off games are becoming less and less he is much more frustrating than a lot of our other players on an off game.

On an off-game he's basically Lucas Moura.

There's no interest for the same reason there's no reported interest in the likes of Kane, or Salah, or Sterling. There's no reason for us to sell or the player to want to leave. As soon as either changes their agent will be on the phone leaking stuff to the papers etc.

I don't mind Lucas Moura. Dangerous player whenever I see him play, technical. Maybe doesn't produce for his position as much as what you'd like which seems to be his Achilles heel but a good player when on the ball, really good dribbling ability.

I can understand the comparison with Son when he's not having a good game. Son is a top player, but he's not reliable enough. To really become in that world class bracket, he needs to have an off day but still be able to produce something to win a game, like what Spurs have needed against Newcastle, Everton and West Ham at home. He has the potential though.

There probably has been interest, but he will not be for sale and loves it at Spurs, so it ends there.

I disagree with the 2nd paragraph of that comment. I would say that along with Kane, Son is a player that can have an off day and still score. Might not be a moment of pure genius or a 40 yard screamer but he'll get on the scoresheet somehow when not at his best.

There is definitely a racial component to it, can be no other explanation
Probably deep rooted, like an Asian can’t be that good, surely??

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I think you may be right, a kind of subconscious racism. Not that the clubs/owners/managers have a deep hatred of Asians and would refuse to employ them. More that Asian countries don't have a record of producing hundreds of brilliant players over the years, which causes those who make the decisions to doubt the ability of a player like Son.
