For me he's an overrated stat padder. Doesn't turn up against big sides away from home and I also think he's generally quite poor in big games. I know people will scream 'FA CUP FINAL' at me, but Chelsea were awful defensively last year.

Scored two in the semi final against Man City. Also hit an away hat trick in the Europa League semi final.
Semi finals and finals = big games.
So your all are happy with his performances I presume. You must be easily pleased.

this article complains Auba is "too soft", then says he'd put Ozil straight into the team

Ozil is not a striker. You need some physical presence to be a striker and you need to show effort and fight to be a club captain.
Interestingly, only Granit Xhaka made more tackles than Auba on Sunday according to whoscored stats

Yeah and in the Europa final he misses an absolute sitter. League Cup final 2018 exact same.
City were useless last year defensively and funnily enough, I think the fact there were no fans factored into him scoring in those games.
How many goals has he scored with his head if your looking at stats please.

Never spoke about his goals. Said he was soft and lacked effort. If he wasn't so soft he would score more.

Conjecture. A good chance he would score far less if he was running around like a loon, putting in ten tackles a game, trying to win headers all over the place.
You’re lucky you’ve got him. You’d genuinely be battling relegation if you had to rely on Lacazette instead.
What a fickle article.
2017-18 : Auba walked in halfway through a season and still ended up with 10 league goals.
2018-19 : Then went on to bang in 31 goals across all competitions in his first full season
2019-20 : Another 29 goals across all competitions.
2020-21 : A less than stellar start to the season by his own lofty standards and the knives are already out by week 6.
Interestingly Aubameyang made twice as many tackles as "deserve to wear the shirt" Tierney and Partey combined on Sunday, even though the latter two are defensive players. Tierney only had 43 touches in 80 minutes, Partey only had 60 all game.
Interesting Partey has already been elevated to "fit to wear the shirt" after this one PL appearance where he didn't tackle, win headers or particularly participate. While a 73 goals in 117 appearances, played on the wing Auba is a disgrace who should be hounded out of the club.
Never suggested he ran round like a loon nor put tackles in. I said he shirks out of every tackle and never wins a 50/50 ball. Plus it would show fans he prepared to fight for our club like a proper captain should. If he won any ariel duels he may score more with his head and create more assists.
This article was not about his lack of goals. It was about his lack of aggression. If he added some aggression it makes sense he would be a better player. You cant have a club captain shirking out of tackles which he does on a regular basis or do you not watch him.
Lacazette plays with a lot of aggression, often tracks back, gets a lot of bookings.
I guess it is a question of whether you want your main goalscorer to score goals or be a Vieira type.
