I think that’s fair

That's the point, you won't see many crab comments now. More of a Pirlo Zico hybrid.
-----------------

To be fair I think Carrick grew into his role at United. As he old guard retired he became more comfortable and took on more responsibility and that rightly earned him appreciation. He was a very good player. Obviously not on the same levels as Scholes, Lampard, Gerrard, Keane Vieira etc.

Robbing reverting to his standard comment that United players get better after retirement, which is really because he can't deal with people who disagree with him.

Carrick was class. A brilliant player for United and as someone who stood watching him week in, week out, I can state without doubt that the fans rated him when he was playing just as they do now.

As for the Poch discussion - it's all very extreme views isn't it?

Robb is perhaps overrating him and certainly is downplaying the element of unknown with him, given we haven't seen him manage a club with a big budget that will buy in superstars and big personalities.

Robbing is downplaying his achievements and ignoring the effect of the wage restrictions that play a massive part in transfer success.

When you're looking for players who will take a salary that is less than half of what the likes of United will pay, clearly it makes it harder to get it right.

Reality is that he did a fantastic job at Spurs and probably will get the chance at a big club to show whether he can build on that.

Ralph rangnick?

-------------------------------------------------

He's an interesting option as well but he would want full control over everything.

Think he would be an excellent mentor for Ed and/or replacement

Think Rangnick would be a better DoF to work with Poch or Nagelsmann

Carrick:

"United colleague Paul Scholes described his midfield partner as a "Rolls Royce" during an interview last January and on various recent phone-ins and internet forums I've heard Carrick labelled as "world class." "

He would but he's not going to get that at United unless the Glazers suddenly wake up from the coma they're in.
