The Bamford no-penalty appeal against Palace. Absolutely this is given to Pen Utd.
..............
Rashford kicked through from behind against Chelsea not given and Maguire yesterday was assaulted by 2 Everton players and no penalty was given. We conceded like the most penalties for barely touching players this season.

With a full strength team I think the next 3 games should yield us 4 points maybe 5 and lift us up the league a few places to 11th or 12th which I would consider that to be excellent if that is our final position at the end of the season.

If we lose the next three then Bielsa has to go.... Only joking!

The Chelsea Rashford penalty was a non-entity.

The Maguire one yesterday was ridiculous. Magiure pushed Pickford who dropped the a ball. Should have been a free kick to Everton. No reason to even look at the penalty once never mind the numerous times they did.

Pen United wanting more penalties than the ones they already get. Wasnt long ago Bruno threw himself into a player a got an incredible penalty.

The one on Rashford was a clear penalty as we conceded ones softer than that this season. It was near identical to the one Arsenal got against us. Kicked the player instead of the ball.

I'm not in panic mode. I hoped before the season we'd finish 17th
or above. Figured if we finished close to mid table that would equal
a solid campaign. Staying up is the only goal for me. We've had a
fair few injuries and suffered for it (but a small squad leads to that).

Right now, we're 15th. About where we should be on balance.
Rodrigo, KP, Llorente, and Raphina should make a huge difference
when all in. Which I hope, will keep us up.

Big positive for me is we have made every team work and caused them problems. The way we play concedes goals but some teams sit back and defend and still get hammered. We are creating brilliant chances every game.

Leicester was our worst performance and we still got ourselves back into it, hit the bar at 2-1 and on balance controlled the second half.

Yesterday, the more I think about the game, the more unjust it seems. 1-1 is a completely different game, the freekick they scored from came from the offside and that Bamford foul was a clear penalty.

I'm still confident of top half/midtable, especially as Raphina, Llorente, and Rodrigo start making more impact.

Injuries also not helping us at the moment. All those people who said that Phillips was struggling must be watching how vulnerable we look without him, and Rodrigo had just started showing what he was all about. Also had Llorente, Cooper, Raphinha, and Shackleton out in recent weeks, something like three different CB partnerships already, without even playing our main CB acquisition.

We won the games we should win, and I'm happy with the point tally overall. Would have liked better performances in the last two games, but don't think the scorelines were merited either.

Yup, that's what I'm thinking too

I said before the games I thought Leicester and palace would be harder than Everton and arsenal... just on a styles make fights basis.

I was hoping to be wrong about the first part and now hoping I’m right on the second part. Most likely not with my record!

Re the where are we? Well we’re playing decent football and the last 2 scores weren’t a reflection of the games... but the alarming thing is the way we’re leaking goals. Sure there was misfortune yesterday, but we’re worrying leaky.

----------------------------------------------------------------------Posh how do you account for mufc getting more than its fair share of pens?

---------------------------------------------------------------------- They are going to get more than the average team.
They have quick footed players with close control in rashford martial Bruno greenwood and they’re all very good at going down theatrically if someone touches their bootlaces slightly. They get more touches in the opposition box than most clubs can engineer. It’s a horrible way to try and win games but they not the only ones at it week in week out

We've given a very good account of ourselves and applied ourselves excellent in regards to playing good football. As for position, we're still feeling that one out. At our best, we're top 10, lately we've looked top 15. Still enjoying it, no promotion talk or lack of I should say

We have played 8 Games and only had one disappointing result. Won the games we are expected to win. I can't have any complaints with that.

We have one player missing because of Corona, top player who brings something different to the team!..

What we,(and others!)have to hope is that when going away on International duty we don't have any more coming back with symptoms, a team with injuries and than the stupid internationals taking other players out, you can see what happens!..

Players are paid by their club, clubs should be able to say their players are going nowhere due to the hazard that awaits them!..

Clubs get done for not releasing their players for internationals, so why cant they hold them back because they fear for their safety?..

Survival in the Prem this season would be good enough for me. To finish anywhere above 17th would be a bonus. There are definitely 3 worse teams than us in the Prem at the moment, so in answer to the original question, that's where we are right now.

posted on 9/11/20

You may well ask & the answer is that we have the worst defensive record in the division.
All the talk on this forum about when Phillips comes back, when Rodrigo returns, how promising Raphina is etc means nothing if we don't have a defence.
Defending has never been a Bielsa strongpoint, really doesn't bother him.
We have maybe one premier league quality defender in Ayling. The rest are championship level at best. Llorente we haven't seen yet & it is now thought it might be next year before we do. Does anyone think we would have shipped all those goals had we still got Ben White? What a disaster that was letting him slip through our fingers & replacing him with Koch, I have lost count of the penalties & free kicks in dangerous areas this guy has cost us.
So yes we might be exciting to watch but unless we address the defensive issues we will go back down as the team with the worst defence invariably does.

posted on 9/11/20

Koch has been fine for us. Had a hard time adapting because of the constant changes in the back line. Would make it difficult for any player. Dallas has also started the season well, again, a lack of consistency doesn't help in these positions.

posted on 9/11/20

Koch is better than White!..

Defence has been chopped and changed lots since the season started but he's been there more than any, and correct if wrong but he's had man of the match as well!..

When Bielsa gets his defence sorted Koch will play a big part no matter what anyone thinks/says!..

posted on 9/11/20

Koch looks great on the ball, but the defensive lapses are stacking up. The back pass against Leicester was one of those things, but the weak defensive headers and getting turned/free kicks are a cause for concern. Our game does leave centre halves exposed at times, I’m happy to cut him slack while he gets used to the system and partnerships, but he needs to up it defensively for me. So does coops to be fair.

agree. generally happy with koch. don't think white would make a bit of difference.

posted on 9/11/20

Koch is also good with his head, something we seem to lack in our team!..

He has come a few times close to scoring for us from corners, gets one then he'll know where their goal is!..

posted on 9/11/20

We look great going forward, especially when we have a creative midfielder like Rodrigo or Pablo pulling the strings, but there is no hiding how vulnerable we are to direct, pacy strikers. Palace and Leicester roasted us down the flanks. We are facing world class footballers every week. Zaha, Vardy, Salah and co are a handful for the best defences. They thrive on half-chances. The number of times our defenders have been turned for pace is a worry. All of them are struggling. When we lose the ball high up the field, the quick counters have really killed us

posted on 9/11/20

It was a well known fact that the way Bielsa sets his teams up they're always open to the counter attack, its his style of play and how he's always done it!..

We're doing it exactly the same as we did in the Championship, and he ain't going to change it!..

Bielsaball is the press, and the press is the new Leeds, Bielsa knows it'll leave us open at the back, but this group of nobody players ain't going to let him down, they'll get it together and it will get better!..
