The international break won't be long enough.

It’s probably unrealistic to see us suddenly transform into a fluid effective attacking team by our next game as their is a lot of work to be done. But yes it would be very disappointing if Arteta doesn’t at least make a couple of player changes and tries a different system to put us on a better path

Of course. But what he can do atm is changing formation and players and start from there.

Yeah for sure, that what I was meaning. It’d be very disappointing if our attacking line up and or formation is unchanged against Leeds. Got to at least drop laca and Willian. Willian just looks like he’s here for an easy pay check so far, so surely by the standards Arteta says he sets would dictate he needs to be benched. Laca is either just very out of form or on the decline, either way he needs time out from the starting line up. Can’t expect to play decent attacking football if 2 of the front 3 are next to useless

Problem is at the moment is if Laccazette is dropped you can just see what he's gonna do he will just play Nketiah which is not going to fix anything all you are doing is just replacing one player who is half decent going through a rough patch with someone let's be honest is not good enough at this level. Aubamenyang must be played down the middle.

Yeah I’d give aubameyang a run there now for sure. Nketiah is unlikely to add much else, although on current form he’s probably better option than laca because at least nketiah is usually stood in the box. Auba, laca and Willian just isn’t working at all. I looked at willians passing map, he made 2 forwards passes, and majority of rest were backwards. Can blame him and probably the system as well, either way that is awful for any team at premiership level

He doesn't really have chance to do much as most players are away with their national teams.

He can pontificate... plan... he can look at himself and not be so micromanaging... he may not be able to do much but he can do SOMETHING.

Not many of our players are internationals, tbf.

Only just seen Bellerin is back in the Spain squad. Been a good few years.

Just checked, and 8 of yesterdays first 11 are on international duty. Would have been 9 if Partey hadn't got injured. Also a few of our other regular starters, or regular substitutes are, too.

The point I am trying to make is that if we want/expect Mikel to change formation and/or tactics then, for it to have any chance of immediate success, the players need atleast a couple of training sessions to implement the changes.

Could do with knowing if Partey's injury is serious or not. If he isn't back for the Leeds game then just going into a 4231 is a massive gamble. We saw last year that the likes of Watford and Sourhampton were going through our MF at ease and registering 25+ shots each game. Without Partey, then it'll just happen again like it did in the 2nd half yesterday.

If he is going to remain 343 then the key is getting Auba on the ball inside the area. Moving him central is really the only way there's a chance of that. We may not create much, but if Auba was being presented with the chances Laca has missed in the last few games, then I'm 100 times more confident that he would be putting more of them away.

Arteta needs to use some young players in the squad without interrupting the quality of the team. However, keeping out Willock and R. Nelson from the Premier League whilst Laca and Willian are struggling will anger the younger players.

Willian I think is just looking the old man who needs half a season just to get going. Time will tell but he shouldn't be starting any PL games at the moment. I wouldn't be surprised if the starts are half the problem with him right now.

Another good reason to use Nelson and Willock. Grandad needs to play like Ramsey did. Off the bench for 20 mins at the end of every game. As a result, having an impact on most games. Plus tbf the type of player Willian is, like the rest of our attackers. Is being badly hampered by Arteta's 3 DMs style foolishness. I think it's starting to show in the attacking players certainly, they don't like this system at all and who can blame them.

No attacking MF pivot/runner is killing their games. It's ridiculous just how often the middle of the pitch is barren of red shirts in the opposition third. Aside from the weak opposition, things went so well when Willock and Nelson played because both kept running into that space all night long. And it brought the attackers to life. Same thing will work against most of our PL opposition.
